S10 Series Starship
The S10 is a large warship largely designed to replace the numerous custom crewed vehicles used by The Magnetic Assembly and Provisional Fleet. It is designed to carry a bit of everything to tackle any task, and extensive creature-comforts for long range missions.

History
The creation of the Provisional Fleet by the Magnetic Assembly resulted in a force that inherited almost exclusively drone ships. While these ships could be easily reconfigured for a wide range of missions, they were not capable of carrying people for longer term missions. This resulted in the fast-tracking of a large warship that could handle complex interplanetary missions along with the required crew comforts.
The ship itself would be put together using the typical design-plans of the Assembly, by putting together a framework and attaching all the needed parts to the frame. The components themselves would largely come from existing design programs, and the lack of an FTL drive system would allow the first ship to exit the construction yards of Rotislav in 2322.
S10 starships would largely be deployed to Atlantica, where they could handle complex operations that involved transport between the various space colonies along with diplomatic operations. This would free up captured Statesmen and ships like the Edward Deming to conduct more interstellar operations with their FTL systems.

Layout
The S10 uses a conventional stack layout.
Starting at the bottom is the ship's engine and reactor assembly. Stacked on top of that are the fuel/reaction mass tanks as well as the primary radiators. This stack takes up nearly half the length of the ship, and ends in a hexagonal section. Above this section is a crew module, surrounded by component modules that contain weapon systems, storage space, and launch bays. Moving further up is another tower section with another crew module, additional storage space, and four weapon turrets.
There is a singled armored side of the ship, which is designed to be oriented towards whatever might be shooting at the ship, and a forward facing Whipple shield that covers the crew modules.
Various thrusters are also positioned around the internal sections of the ship.
Armor
The armor package for the ship largely follows the same lightly armored, highly redundant/distributed design of other Assembly warships. Individual components are armored against radiation and micro-meteor strikes.
The entire length of the ship facing to one side is covered with armored blocks over the superstructure, with double layered bricks covering the upper crew compartment. These bricks are made from an amorphous carbon material that provides protection against energy weapons. These bricks are covered in a thin layer of ultrahard ceramics that provide protection against smaller fast-moving objects. This provides protection against lasers, smaller projectiles, and fragmentation weapons from one facing. The armor is less effective against larger projectiles or missiles.
When damaged, the bricks can be swapped out or moved around on the hull by repair crews to keep fresh armor covering the important areas of the ship even after long duration missions.
A three layer ceramic whipple shield is installed on the top of the craft, and covers the primary crew sections but not the exterior modules or radiators.

Weapons
The primary weapon system of the S12 is the pair of MAWS-64 Cold Laser Coupled Particle Beam systems. When the ship was originally designed, these were the longest range energy weapons designed for use aboard a starship, and the extensive radiator surface area was designed with supporting the operations of the two systems. It was expected that any major target could be attacked with these systems before it could get within range of the ship itself.
For closer range defense, the ship mounts four anti-ship turrets towards the top of the craft, and numerous smaller cannons for defense against small objects like space-suit'd individuals or missiles.
To round out the ship's armaments' is ample space for containerized anti-ship missiles.
The weapon systems are primarily meant for extreme long range combat, as the ship is expected to carry a living crew, and is expected to keep that crew at as great a distance as possible from danger. Closer range engagements are intended to be carried out by other supporting drone ships.

Life Support
The S10 uses crew space derived from the Edward Deming, using a combination of self-sustaining life support systems and ample storage space for supplies long term. The life support and other systems are all contained within the two Series 1 PCM in the center/top of the ship.
