• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

S12 Series Starship

O0raxS4.png

The S12 is a smaller, dedicated electromagnetic support craft designed to protect other ships against attack from Daqin forces primarily through electromagnetic beam-deflection strategies. It produces a large amount of electrical power for its size, and mounts a powerful electromagnet designed to deflect the charged particle beams often encountered on Daqin ships.

History

The creation of the Provisional Fleet by the Magnetic Assembly resulted in a force that inherited almost exclusively drone ships. While these ships could be easily reconfigured for a wide range of missions, they were not capable of carrying people for longer term missions. This resulted in the fast-tracking of a large warship that could handle complex interplanetary missions along with the required crew comforts.

The ship itself would be put together using the typical design-plans of the Assembly, by putting together a framework and attaching all the needed parts to the frame. The components themselves would largely come from existing design programs, and the lack of an FTL drive system would allow the first ship to exit the construction yards of Rotislav in 2322.

S10 starships would largely be deployed to Atlantica, where they could handle complex operations that involved transport between the various space colonies along with diplomatic operations. This would free up captured Statesmen and ships like the Edward Deming to conduct more interstellar operations with their FTL systems.

Layout

The S12 maintains a conventional stack layout, with the top of the ship housing a multi-purpose module for avionics and optional screw space. The middle section of the ship houses a fuel tank. The bottom section of the ship houses the ship's reactor and engine system. The ship's mission equipment is connected to the sides of the primary stack with a powerful electromagnet connected to one side, and weapon systems, storage, and additional avionics housed on the other side of the craft for balance. An angled radiator system is wrapped around this, with some areas left open to provide sightlines for turrets and the electromagnet.

Armor

The S12 is a relatively lightly armored craft with the basic modules covered in a thin layer of composites for radiation and micrometeor protection. The primary armor of the craft is the radiators and the coolant liquid used within which is arranged like spaced armor to better protect the critical internal components of the craft.
