Created in 2318, Blackwell Defense Industries is a Dropship, Foldship, Battle Frame, and Power Armor production corporation, selling to both militaries and civilians.

Blackwell Defense Industries is the brainchild of Maria Virtù-Sorano and Jimmy Sorano in their continued bid to become one of the most powerful couples in Reservoir. With the recovery of the Kotoku Cache by the Baba Yaga, Jimmy married into the Virtù family with the bride-price of the addition of a major trade and production hub.

Maria, Jimmy's new wife and friend of Sophia, convinced her new husband to front the resources to capitalize on the ancient designs with a repossessed zero gravity shipyard in orbit of and converted Battle Frame foundry on Vice. Blackwell Defense Industries is the first business of The Kingdom of Vice and Virtue Royal Family to directly produce weapons of self defense and trade, counting the private military group Baba Yaga as one of it's first and most prominent customers.

Blackwell Defense Industries follows a classic tiered corporate structure.

Headed by Maria Virtù-Sorano, this division is responsible for guiding the company, as well as accounting/payroll from various government and private entities.

Headed by Augury Moonbeam Lynn 69-2114-3289, the Engineering Division is responsible for converting and adapting the Kotoku data core designs.

Headed by Jimmy's Cousin, Antonio, The Space Division produces and assembles the Foldships and Dropships sold by Blackwell Defense Industries.

Headed by Marie's brother, Ernesto, Foundry and Frameworks produces and assembles the Frames and armaments, including the consumable munitions used by both the Frames and Dropships sold by Blackwell Defense Industries.

With the windfall from a large palladium sale, Jimmy was able to earn the biggest score of his life: marriage into the royal family with the provision of purchasing of a pair of new shipyards. One of these facilities was gifted to the Royal family as his bride price, provided the first beginnings of a new standardized military for The Virtu family. The other began the orbital division of Blackwell Defense Industries.

Through his new familial contacts, an old mill complex was sold to Jimmy before demolition in his hometown of Landsdown. A large investment from the remaining sales of the palladium ensured the start of Foundry and Frameworks, the planet-side division of Blackwell Defense Industries.

With the recovery of the Kotoku Data Core by the Baba Yaga, most of the research and development was already completed. All that remained was to adapt the designs to modern materials and construction techniques.
