• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

History

The Steward is a large shuttle craft that started development in 2310 as a joint project between the Union Launch Alliance and Stellar Defense to replace a number of smaller shuttle craft within ISOC's inventory with a single design. The design was creating with an eye for short range combat and interdiction/customs duty. As such it carries a small close in weapon system and enough space to (uncomfortably) carry up to 12 marines to board and secure ships. By using off the shelf technology the ship design was completed in a relatively small amount of time, and the first ships were completed in 2316. Small numbers of the craft would be deployed around Jupiter for customs duty and interceptions.

By 2320 larger numbers of the Steward were being deployed throughout the Human Sphere.

Radiators

Four gold-tinted radiators mounted on top of the ship's RCS thruster modules provide heat dissipation for the ship's systems.

RCS Thrusters

Located on four 'wings' that jut out from the main body of the craft, the ship's large RCS thruster assembly makes precise movements easy allowing for complex docking maneuvers to be undertaken

Crew Modules

The ship's crew module houses 3 small decks, with a heavily armored top deck that houses the two pilot's seat. The middle deck includes sleeping space, and a small work area. The bottom deck houses the craft's airlock. The rather small amount of available space means when carrying additional passengers fold out acceleration beds are used and individuals need to cram themselves in rather tightly.

Weapons

UG-301 2.5mm point defense coilgun

The Steward is armed with a single UG-301 coilgun for close in defense, with the weapon system's sensors cut down and re-arranged to better fit within the ship's weapon mount.

Life Support

Due to the short-term mission nature of the Steward, the ship houses a small life-support system designed for oxygen generation and carbon removal only at 1 atmosphere of pressure for 2 people for about a week, or 10 people for 17 hours allowing for a wide range of mission profiles.

The ship lacks any grey-water treatment or in depth air filtration, meaning additional downtime is required between missions to bring the life support back up to spec.
