History
In 2324, Echoni being sent on operations from Alpha Concourse were often given 'off the shelf' equipment or gear that was provided from other services like the Hawking gendarmerie. The ongoing Echoni Project would continue to incur additional expenses for the upkeep of Echonis that were produced, as well as an increasing inventory of older Echoni that were less capable than their more recent versions. To help address this, SEER would look to improve their older Echoni using better equipment. This would lead to their first encounter suit being designed in 2325.
As SEER continued to try and monetize its operations, it would start producing the encounter suits for other groups and general use with some success.

Usage
The Encounter Suit was intended to be a comfortable to wear, long term, outfit to support operations in rough but still terrestrial environments like the forested areas of Hawking.
It is intended to protect Echoni from injured knees or heads when moving in rough terrain, provide a level of thermal invisibility, and help manage body heat.
Though it provides some protection against slashing weapons, it is not intended for direct combat and won't stop projectile weapons.

Layout
Electronics Package
Located over the shoulder-blades of the suit are two electronics packages that house the compute, batteries, communications, and cooling equipment.
The top of the package has an air intake, and uses a piezoelectric fan to move air over a heat exchanger connected to the suit and then out of the exhaust vent on the bottom of the electronics package. This can provide a degree of thermal stealth, helping equalize the temperature of the exterior of the suit with the surrounding environment.
The electronics also handle tracking using accelerometers for dead reckoning, listening for navigational signals , and providing general compute power for the user for things like recording, processing data, or communication.
The majority of the weight of the electronics package is the battery. Though intended to provide days of operation of normal suit functions, the battery can also be used to provide power for other devices attached to the suit.

Thermal Bodysuit
The bodysuit itself is made of a weave of metals and fibers designed to evenly distribute heat throughout the suit, and to eject excess heat from the system using the electronics package on the back of the suit. This mix of materials is designed to be resistant to blades and other damage but it is not rated to stop bullets.
Gear/Climbing Harness
Hard Panels
Hard inserts made from high strength ceramics are located on the elbows and knees. These are intended to provide protection and comfort during rough movements.
