• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

"Announcing Lady Nimue of Cinna, third of her line and emissary of the great dune seas!" The herald sang with his sonorous voice. He paused and looked at the Daqinren before adding, "And guests!"

Like everything before, the large, spacious room was carved out of the pseudo-marble material that Jun had identified previously. Surprisingly enough, the columned room was relatively spartan in decor. Though banners stood high, there were few, and more importantly, it seemed to be set up to be comfortable. Various chairs, sofas and couches were scattered about, as were small tables of various finger foods and treats of alien origin. If someone had to sit and talk for a long time, they wouldn't be unhappy at least. At the center of it all though, was a young, noble clad Aos'Si who, if compared to a human, looked to be barely into his teens. The short, black curls on his head looked like an older sibling could tousle them on a whim, but his cold blue eyes stared daggers at the Daqinren that had been ushered into the room.

"Oh. Maybe they're the ones that will cause all the problems?" the creature towering over the young man remarked.

Sakura walked in with the others, keeping herself in a loose guard position near Hoshiko where she could protect her if things went pear shaped. Her violet eyes took in the elaborate surroundings, making note of who was where, who was armed and where assailants could hide and attack from. Was this overkill? Probably, but she had a healthy sense of self preservation and responsibility for her princess' safety.

In the VR cafe, she had managed to acquire a large slice of the cake Hoshiko had offered her. The spoonful had been delicious and made good strides to improving her mood about a certain recent event. As she snacked on the sweet dessert and focused the majority of her attention to the real world, a bit of her played back the images of the archaic and strange airships they had seen under construction in the dug out mountain shipyard. They were strange, unlike what she was used to seeing (not that she had seen much outside her own peoples ships in her short life). While she was a soldier, she had a bit of a fascination with ships and fightercraft and knew she would have to spend some time making notes and sketches later to help satisfy this curiosity.

In the meatspace she made note of the look the blue eyed black haired kid flashed them and added him to her mental watch list. He looked like he could possibly be some form of trouble. Then her eyes slide up to the big creature towering over him.

"What the hell is that?!" she blurted in the VR cafe as her eyes locked on the bird-like creature..

"Some Aos Si thing. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Its like wearing a weird skin online. Some Aos Si just wants to look like a birdie. That's like a furry but-" Jun started to explain as she took a digital breath from a digital hooka in the maid cafe. She had been progressively making the Hooka larger and larger until the whole thing was like a giant glass smoke stack. The glass had stained-glass sections inset into it, and the water at the bottom of the hooka was a small lake with tiny ships inside of it that were sailing around among the tornado like gusts of smoke and wind. The ice chamber above the water chamber had a swirling snowstorm inside of it with a few small snowy mountains.

"We should keep our distance. If a fight breaks out, it will take some time to incapacitate all of these Aos Si." Xian stated, trying to stay off to the side of the group so that the other Daqin were not in between her and the Aos Si at the party.

"We've been helpful so far!" Jun called out back to the creature. "You want a popsicle? We brought party favors too."

"Don't want to judge a book by its cover, but doesn't it look similar to the creatures we fought earlier? If its related to the magic flesh crafting, its a lot better put together than those monstrosities," she skooches out of the way as the hooka gets larger and looks at it disappointedly, "Still think the amount of energy needed to convert flesh directly like that is ludicrous though..."

Back in the real, Reina looks around, trying to absorb as much information as possible. Her gaze lingers on the creature and the boy, but otherwise remains politely curious. With a practiced, slight smile on her face, she leans to Lady Nimue and subtly whispers, "Just 'guests' is slightly insulting... though not like we announced ourselves before showing our faces around here. Think that was a jab or the most polite thing he could say without knowing about our 'delegation?'"

Reina suddenly thinks of something and addresses the VR Cafe table, "Please don't antagonize anyone. The asshole on the transport got less than he deserved after pulling a stunt like that, but we are in a diplomatic setting right now." She pointedly looks at Wen, "And saying how beneath them they are to us or how superior we are won't help the situation. If it goes belly up or one of them lays an unwelcome hand on one of us, fine, do your thing," she looks around again, "But we can't have insults or violence thrown at people we are trying to bridge a connection with," she pauses and sighs, "Even if it ends up being less than ideal for them later, we still need to broke the appearance of being open to them now."

As the Daqinren came to the center of the great round room alongside Lady Nimue, her Maidenguard formed up along their side of the room's edge, still visible from between the pillars. The city guards did the same, departing until their number matched. Despite the room being set up so casually with chairs and sofas and tables full of goods aplenty, the atmosphere was cold and wary as they all continued to stand.

The 'two' parties stood apart, with perhaps ten arm's lengths between them.

"You beat me to it," Hoshiko shot a smirk at Sakura. "I doubt they have enough magic or money to spare getting a full conversion like Those humans," Hoshiko dismissively replied to Jun. Though yet another cathode ray tube television atop a rolling stand appeared, the instance of Hoshiko that was with them contemplated the tiny ships in Jun's stormy sea. "Reina's on the right track I think. That creature is far too similar to those earlier ones, so let's hope we can talk our way out of this one and not lift a finger."

"It was most likely done on the Herald's part," Lady Nimue wryly smiled at Reina. As she said so though, the feathered creature standing beside the young prince cocked its eyeless head at Jun, contemplating what the Daqin woman had said.

"I take it this means you have made your decision? I - Nimdorn of Faelindor - swore an oath on my father's grave that I would not allow black prophesy to pass!" the young man thrust his chest out, hands on his hips as he gathered all the intimidation he could muster in his bluster.

"She said they're helpful though," the creature beside him remarked, its feminine voice light, airy, yet... somehow posh. Aristocratic? Despite knowing the language, the 'feeling' of dialects and accents was still out of their grasp. "Helpful." The creature paused to think for a moment. "Oh. My patron had sent Angels to Lady Nimue of Cinna to help. They were told to help her avoid triggering the prophesy."

"Wait. You mean the ones that tried to kill her?" Hoshiko incredulously sputtered.

"I am understanding of your assumption, but I have yet to make any decision," Lady Nimue's golden eyes sparkled with amusement. She smiled at the younger man like an older sister to a younger brother. "I thought it would be useful to bring the people who we have been...most concerned about, and speak with them directly." Her golden eyes turned to the creature. "Assuming I will not be assassinated?"

"Odd. They were specifically instructed to 'keep Lady Nimue of Cinna from fulfilling the prophesy' when my patron had sent them," the featured creature noted. The depth of its voice being strung by its chest bound syrinx, rather than by human-like cords in the throat, had the words eerily hang in the air.
