The Island Kingdoms
What was a major Grawl Empire that spanned the planet prior to the First Aliyum Crisis, is now a small shell of its former self.
The Island Kingdoms and their large navy found themselves well positioned for trade and development in the peaceful years leading up to the First Aliyum Crisis. Their government had transitioned to a representative democracy that would represent the multiple formerly-kingdoms that existed on the shared island chain. Trade and Conquest would help push them to being one of the most technologically advanced groups on the planet with a prosperous population that lived in sprawling cities.
When the first Aliyum ships were detected, the Island Kingdoms would take it upon themselves to lead the response. They would form a command for the Grawla's mutual defense, staffing it with their best and brightest with connections to the major grawl nations of the era.
This group would build fortified underground facilities and stockpiles to prepare for incoming Aliyums, as well as lead the emergency responses to the presence of Aliyum exploration operations planet side. While this group would have some initial success, the cities of The Island Kingdoms would be largely destroyed during the Aliyum Crisis and the nuclear-winter that followed it after the Verne Clan destroyed the Aliyum ships with their nuclear-mountain-cannon strategy.
Though the Island Kingdoms would not survive, the military organization did. These Grawl now represent the formost Grawla experts on the Aliyums and Aliyum technology.
