• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Though marked as a First Class Citizen of the Empire of Daqin, Yáng is secretly a former human who paid the empire to wash away her identity and past as a human being. She since gaining her new life, Yang enjoyed working as a freelance mercenary while proudly expressing the superiority of her nation and her people. Recently, she's been given the honor of being an International Envoy for The Empire, and gained the appropriate doctorates and masters in various life sciences to qualify.

However, she wasn't always this way, and can have moments where her old-self resurfaces.

Personality

She can be best summed up as a proud, arrogant and stubborn individual who believes in her inherent superiority over 'lesser beings' such as humans. Perhaps stereotypically of Daqinren, she has a superiority complex. For this reason, Yang acts as though The Empire, and by extension herself, are better than what humanity has to offer. However, this masks her own feelings of inferiority that she had growing up, and has not left behind. Yáng has always had a hot temper and a fiery passion, but now enjoys bending things to her will. This also means she's easy to upset or bait into conflict however. She's also innately curious like a cat, even if it's against her better common sense, and like a cat, has no decorum. Yáng will invade and violate the personal space of others and seems to have discarded any concept judging by the way she acts, or perhaps, simply doesn't care anymore. Despite her shortcomings, Yáng is also quite loyal to anyone she considers friends, as well as The Empire.

Skills

0 is the default starting skill level, with 4 being mastery.
  • Weapon Proficiency (Side Arms) +4: Yáng is an expert in all side arms, ranging from pistols, to sub-machineguns and various other small, specialized projectile weapons. Thanks to her extensive experience in the field as a mercenary, she has been exposed to weapons from various nations and can quickly adapt to foreign designs, figuring out how to operate them on-the-fly. Better yet, her aim with side arms is practically uncanny, rapidly making targeting calculations and aiming with typical Daqinren speed and precision.
  • Weapon Proficiency (Long Arms) +3: Three-sixty no-scope!
  • Martial Arts +3: Like a skilled chess player, Yáng moves with deliberate precision, making her moves and counter moves to take apart her opponents with inhuman speed and strength.
  • Gunnery +3: Years of manning heavy machine guns and star ship turrets to fend off space pirates, insurgents and competing mercenaries have sharpened Yáng's gunnery skills, enabling her to quickly calculate trajectories for moving targets in and out of atmosphere
  • Life Sciences +2: Having recently graduated from the Empire's education system, Yang has competency in genomics, space survival, medicine, bionetic and cybernetic augmentations, and bio-catonite interactions.
  • Gaming +2: Her build orders and sheer APM will tear most people a new one.
  • Agility/Reflexes +2: Quick and slim, Yáng moves fast. However, it was never something she sharpened deliberately.
  • Weapon Proficiency (Knives) +2: Though meant for more style than substance, it comes in handy in a pinch.
  • Weapon Proficiency (Heavy Weapons) +2: Rawket Lawnchair!
  • Computers +1: As with all Daqin, Yáng can wirelessly connect with compatible electronics at a lower bandwidth, and with a higher one should she have the appropriate accessories. Alternatively, Yáng can simply touch compatible technology and initiate a high-bandwidth connection in that manner.
  • Dancing +1: It turns out that dancing is really good for staying fit and limber!
  • Cooking +1: "Yummy in my tummy!"

Items of Note

  • Red Elastomer Electroactive Hair Ribbon with Decorative Hub: Designed to be woven through hair, the electroreactive materials contract when current is run through them, enabling movement. With the ribbons woven into a user's hair in an appropriate pattern, braids of hair can be made prehensile. Meanwhile, the decorative hub worn on the hair contains the main battery, user uplink and control systems for the hair accessory.
  • Punch Grip Vibroblade: Normally dull, the dagger sized blade only becomes dangerous once the punch-grip integrated device is activated, spurring the blade into a blur of ceaseless sawing motions that can slice through even the toughest of armor with enough time. Being of Daqin make, it does not have any physical switches or buttons, and uses contact commands from a Daqin or other compatible source such as intermediary technology.
  • Gold Bell Necklace Wireless Booster: The innate wireless communication abilities available to the Daqin are relatively low-bandwidth in sharp contrast to their direct-contact ability which is high-bandwidth. Accessories such as these, disguised as ornaments or the like, not only connect to the Daqinren and broadcast with high-bandwidth, but also act as a buffer zone in which executable programs can be carried out, keeping the user safe. Incidentally, the clapper of Yáng's bell can be locked into position, preventing it from ringing.
