• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

History

A branch of the Mogris armor that follows on from the older space suits and even older dive suits, the Ax-Mogris first started being fielded by Exemplar Palzurna and the Triangle Boys in the 2320s. This armed version of the suit would need large weapons to deal with Megafauna, the larger weapons required larger arms and hydraulics to support them. This in turn required a larger suit with a liquified-peat engine for power. The design would become popular with the operations group of the Edward Deming and by 2326 the armor would be further modified with options to replace the peat engine with batteries and fuel-cell options.

Armor Layout

The protection systems on the suit are designed around letting the wearer operate safely in

Ballistic Protection

Mogris armor is typically tough, and Ax-Mogris armor is even tougher. The suit will stand up to physical impacts well, is nearly immune to smaller weapons, and can even hold up well against rifles meant to pierce armor. The Actual level of protection can vary greatly from suit to suit, and further armor plates are usually added by the operator.

Radiation Protection

The layered materials of the armor are well suited for protection against radiation in space, and will greatly reduce received radiation for a grawl wearing the armor.

Thermal Protection

Water is circulated around the inside of the suit to spread out thermal load across the suit, but the majority of the protection against changes in temperature comes from the suit's thick insulation. The inbuilt heater requires a lot of power to work for extended periods of time and can greatly reduce the duration the suit can operate on battery power. Similarly, the suit's limited water supply can be carefully boiled off to reduce temperatures in the short term but the effect is minimal.

Life Support

Designed to be as power efficient as possible, the suit filters air, removes CO2, and provides a small amount of temperature regulation mostly through mechanical means. The atmospheric system tends to be supplemented by bosses and agile stuffed into the suit anywhere it would fit to provide an additional amount of air filtration.

Power Systems

Originally intended for underwater operation, the suit originally used packs of solid state batteries for power. The focus on using the suit on the land and the greater power demands would see the batteries replaced with a large liquefied-peat engine module on the back. Later the suit would see use on airless moons and aliyum planetoids requiring a full circle replacement of the engine with solid state batteries and similar equipment. As of 2326 the power pack options for the suit include.
  • Solid State Batteries
  • Aliyum salvage derived battery packs
  • Liquified-Peat engine
  • Hydrogen Fuel Cells
