Tai Shun Jo
"Tai Shun Jo" is the phonetically skewed pronunciation of "提升骄傲", "Tíshēng jiāo'ào", or "Uplift the Proud". As the name implies, this campaign will follow a group of elves, long since fallen from their magic-powered golden age, as they navigate through a far more technologically advanced human society, learning their craft and attempting to improve their own lives and those of the greater elven community. The endeavor will take place on the elven-named planet Lihana, or as the HFR christened it, "朱雀", "Zhuque".
The group of elves will have to alternate between their education in the Waidu planetary capital of "云望", "Yunwang"; and D&D-like missions in their home forests and ancient ruins to support themselves or their families. Guiding the elves will be an HFR representative Li Shi Cheng, Lee for short, a survivor of the Zhongzhi event, now a xenobiologist at the Yunwang Institute of Technology.
Game Master will be Ray of Meep. The plot will be mostly managed here before published on the site: https://taishunjo.publishwith.me/1
Plot Style and Expectations
As a slice-of-life campaign, it'll be fairly laid back in terms of pacing, but I'm (GM) online pretty often, so posts can happen once a day or even multiple times a day. At the minimum, I'll push for one GM post a week to maintain momentum. The goal of this campaign is to develop player characters, while also exploring the post-Zhongzhi HFR and elven world.
Violence will most likely be minimal, given the educational setting. Sex and language will depend on the will of the players and their wishes for the characters.
Suggested Character Origins
Since the player-characters will be jumping between two worlds, the high tech, modern human world and the medieval elven world, it is recommended that players choose two separate skill sets for their character, a work-in-progress focus that's pursued for their education, and an already mastered skill set that's used in their own elven jobs.
The HFR's predecessor, the CCP, was known for purging what was left over of organized magic of elven society, destroying historical sites and outright neutering magic-wielding elves. Therefore, the animosity runs deep in elven society, especially in villages with surviving mages. What motivations would your character have to overcome this friction and enter the uplifting program? It could be the pure desire to improve the lives of the elven people, or that you have a vengeful motive.
It's highly unlikely that the HFR will choose poorly connected elves as student candidates. Therefore, your background is going to most likely be of noble origin. This can either be nobility through meritocratic or hereditary means. You can also choose to be a retainer of sorts that serves those who make decisions.
