• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. The Dictionary\\

Ownership of Yelton Veda brought with it incredible wealth that was used to overturn many of the AU laws regarding inheritance. When these individuals died during the formation of the Machine Exemplar, much of their wealth came under control the AI executors of their will. These AI carry out the will of the deceased long after they have died, allowing them to exert a very real control over their ancestors. These family members can find themselves bound by extensive legal requirements, and can be compelled to act through loss of access to funds, disabling of cybernetics, and legal action.

The AIs that control these people are collectively known as the Letters Testamentary


Organization

There are only two roles within the Letters Testamentary, the AI that control the legal and financial assets and the decedents who are positioned to inherit from this estate. The decedents are obligated to act under the guide of the AI through various financial and legal means. The AI are bound to act by their originator's wills, and seek to continue to grow their financial assets while ensuring the possible inheritors also act according to their originator's wills.

Recruitment

Much like classical nobility, it is only possible to be born into, or marry into, the Letters Testamentary.

History

Originating in the aftermath of Yelton Veda's great civil war, the Letters Testamentary represent the losing factions. The survivors would largely disperse around the Hawking System as the finances of those involved were tied up in legal actions for decades. When the legal isses were settled, the AIs responsible for executing the Wills of the leaders of the losing factions were allowed to start the dispersement of their estates under the criteria that were set forward.

This largely continued until the New Years Revolution in 2320 which saw much of the financial capability of the Letters Testamentary inside of the Hawking System wiped out, along with their ability to distribute within the Hawking System.

Culture

Those that follow the Letters Testamentary can have a widespread set of beliefs, but generally they all carry some amount of animosity towards the AI that control their lives, and an even greater animosity towards The Machine Exemplar for stealing the holy land of Yelton Veda from them.
