LAD-102s
LAD-102s, also known as Project 3875 by Lada Design Bureau seniors, is a small patrol ship developed by the Soyuz Sotsialisticheskikh Mirov to bolster defence of their near-earth orbital power beaming infrastructure in 2250, and has sense seen service throughout the Human Sphere.
History
Project 3875 has its roots in the massive undertaking of the Soyuz to deploy a microwave power beaming network near earth by 2260. This new orbital infrastructure would drastically increase the amount of near-earth objects that would need to be defended and maintained by the Soyuz. In order to do that, new ship designs would be needed.
The Lada design bureau would be tasked with creating a design that could fill the mission requirements. The ship needed to fit onboard terrestrial launch platforms sent up from Baikonur and Vladivostok. They would need to have sufficient range and endurance to conduct operations all the way out to geosynchronous orbit. Weapon systems would also be needed to engage a variety of fire missions including attack against capital ships, self-defense, and Inspect/Loiter/Kill missions against satellites.
As the ship only needed to go up into orbit, and had no need to land once launched it would be mostly completed on the surface, then launched into orbit for final assembly. It officially earned its designation as LAD-102s after completing its prototype stage and entering mass production. The relatively cheap and robust nature of the ship would see it remain in service for decades with constant upgrades with hundreds of units being produced and distributed throughout the human sphere.
