• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Culture of the Kingdom of Vice and Virtue

Called many things, the culture of the Kingdom of Vice and Virtue is one of freedom and contained violence. The Vendetta is infused into every aspect of interaction between citizens of the Kingdom, promoting structure and hierarchy along with freedom.

The Tale of Bruno and George.
So Mr. Paladin is driving along and gets into a traffic accident with Mr. Meep. Meep and Paladin exchange information and go their separate ways.

The next day, Paladin goes to Meep's house and demands Meep fix his car. Meep tells Paladin to F** off. Instead of leaving, Paladin calls his associate named Bruno. Bruno comes to Meeps house and has a conversation.

Bruno says, "Hi there. My name is Bruno. My client has an issue with you concerning fixing his car. If you don't fix his car per his request, I will break your knee caps. Visibly concerned, Meep says: Hold on one minute, let me call my associate, George. He will help settle this issue.

Shortly, George arrives and they step aside, George and Bruno. They have a short conversation, catch up on the weather and see if the retainer fees have been paid. As professionals, they are patient and diplomatic. One never knows who the next client will be, after all.

Bruno says, "So your client has been asked to fix my client's car. He declined. I was called to convince him to change his mind." George nods and replies, "And that's where my client called me to represent him. So Vendetta?" Bruno nods and counters, "Formal Vendetta?" (informal is a fist fight in the street) George nods, agreeing. He was still healing from an informal Vendetta fight earlier that morning over a group of freemen wanting his gold plated watch down at the Wifflehut. George says, "Lets call Judge Ralph, he has a stadium near the park and can get us good rates. Bruno, always wanting to save a buck, readily agrees to the deal. So Bruno and George Call Ralph.

Judge Ralph, being a concerned citizen and Marketeer of Vendettas, Agrees to Judge the Vendetta between Paladin and Meep in exchange for holovid rights. Paladin and Meep agree and pay their representatives to defend their interests in this Vendetta.

To prevent widespread destruction, Bruno and George agree to fight in low intensity augmented combat to settle the suit between Paladin and Meep. Lets not break any other kneecaps, cars, houses, or cities while we settle this issue.

So George and Bruno fight it out on Live cable network the next day. Bruno wins and disables George's Frame. Once the dust settles and it is verified no other collateral damage has occurred, Bruno is delcared the winner on behalf of Mr. Paladin and goes back to Meep's residence. Once again, Bruno knocks on Mr. Meep's door and says, "You still owe Mr. Paladin to fix his car. I will break your kneecaps if you don't pay up.

Mr. Meep, defeated in Vendetta, agrees to pay rather than have his kneecaps broken then and there.
