Bruno

Named for Giordano Bruno, Bruno is a gas giant in the Hawking Star System. Asteroids and other space infrastructure was setup here before the arrival of human colonists in the Hawking system. Bruno’s gravity well would go on to house the majority of the non-Grawla population in the hawking system.

History

Bruno was ‘settled’ in 2181 as the first stage of the human colonization of the Hawking star system. The initial colonies were little more than small crews onboard ships loaded with drones that would begin creating the space infrastructure required to support colonization efforts.

Locations

Bruno is a gas giant, and its gravity well dominates much of the outer areas of the Hawking system. This has created a large number of moons in orbit around the planet, and a large number of asteroids in nearby space, kept in an orbit away from the inner system by Bruno.

Upper Realms

Wellhead Orbit

The Wellhead Orbit of Bruno provides the link between the refineries in the Upstream Orbits, and the atmosphere of Bruno itself. Ships and Stations dip down into the atmosphere to siphon off gasses, then deliver them to the refineries in a more stable orbit. Due to atmospheric drag, craft constantly must boost themselves up to avoid getting pulled down into Bruno itself.

Upstream Orbit

Any easy to reach middle orbit around Bruno primarily inhabited by resource processing stations that prepare materials for transport around the Hawking System

Life

Bruno was believed to not harbor life up until the Fuminsho Station Disaster in 2325 when the microscopic 'Blue Cells' were discovered in the atmosphere of the planet. Their interactions with the E-4 project's Exophages triggered the Fuminsho Station Disaster.
