• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Infantry Battle Doctrine

The GDW employs a relatively low amount of highly trained, well armored infantry, preferring high flexibility and longevity for its units. These infantry are well equipped technologically and can stay long in sustained fights.

In contrast, the HFR exchanges armor for maximized mobility, preferring instead to biologically enhance its primary infantry. Where as the GDW made a conscious choice to keep its amount of infantry low, the HFR has trouble increasing its numbers, due to disunity between the confederate nations and the long lead time to train a biologically enhanced soldier.

"The Assembly hasn't had to do this at scale in a long time" and I think their infantry battle doctrine is to just let someone else handle that. For the most part they operate in space so there aren't many opportunities for large scale infantry combat or indeed any kind of infantry combat.

Since they can only really bring small units along on their starships anyways, their combat units tend to focus on small unit tubular assault.

I also image everyone else have these kind of units that specialize in fighting in space colonies, starships, buildings, and other tightly constrained environments since a large percentage of humanity lives in 'actual space' now. Of course there are also lots of places where the are more traditional infantry like on earth where multiple nations still have disputes that require conventional armed forces. I imagine you might see the infantry more geared toward internal security on colony worlds though since those tend to be more settled by single nations.
