• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Hard Canon Setting Elements and Guidelines

Overview

  • Setting Element must bring some kind of value to the setting. What can a new setting element do that an existing setting element cannot? This questioning does not apply to small item creations such as weapons, clothes, non-sentient biology, anything that’s there mostly for flavor.
  • Setting Element must be made or introduced with the intention of fully integrating with the setting.
  • If the staff are interested in your setting element, you will be made an offer to allow the Website to have extended rights to utilize your content. Content will remain your IP, and you can use it as you wish, but the site will retain control of the asset within, and only within, the realms of Nobles of Null. This means, to avoid conflict between players over assets, Staff will have final say on conflicts.
  • Example: A second-class Daqinren is written to be capable of taking down a normal human in one-on-one combat. Two players, one playing a Daqinren and the other playing a human, have their characters engage in physical combat, escalating to an out of character dispute. Unless the combat is written with special circumstances, such as the human taking physical improvement modifications, or that the Daqinren is somehow disadvantaged, the Game Master or Staff is obligated to rule in favor of the player playing the Daqinren character.
  • The purpose here is to maintain some degree of consistency throughout the plots. If you refuse this offer, your asset will be considered soft canon.
