• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Grönskande System

Located between GDW and SSM territories, the Grönskande System is a breakaway system comprised of the former's political dissidents during a particularly trying time for its internal affairs. Back in 2281, rising dissatisfaction with the perceived inaction and bureaucratically overwrought nature of the Gemeinschaft's leadership within the eastern arm of the Silbern System were capitalized on by a variety of firebrand politicians of the mainline establishment. An increasingly restless populace, believing their concerns were not being heard amidst a variety of ongoing political turmoil, began to practice civil disobedience and mass riots as the majority of the political spectrum was united in how galvanized it was against central administration.

Things only got worse when accusations of manipulated electoral processes and attempted mears of growing populist party leaders pushed many to simply evacuate towards the distant system of Grönskande. This separatist movement, backed up by powerful corporate cartels that had funded initial scouting of the system, essentially was under their control as the private sector united with the political orthodoxy in promising a new prosperous start for those increasingly distrustful of the GDW. In clear violation of top-down directives, a mass exodus of manpower and material was soon underway. The GDW was reluctant to interfere for fear of causing a disaster that would damage its intersolar standing.

Initially, the Grönskande System project was successful with the advanced terraforming and colonization capabilities of the separatists rapidly deploying on worlds that while habitable, were marred with rough terran and dense vegetation. While the various political factions were still united, conflicts over which worlds and reosources to prioritize did frequently break out and the corporate oligarchy that had allied itself to them did not necessarily see all of their prior competitors as true compatriots. Many of these worlds proved to have weather, wildlife, and atmospheric conditions a lot trickier than the not necessarily alwyas up to date technology they possessed could handle and it wasn't uncommon for contact to be lost for weeks between the growing colonies, prompting many to convert large cargo haulers to temporary space-faring homes.

Due to these shortcomings, the system has had to maintain various econo-political connections to the superpower it claimed to desire independence from. Roughly 45% of the system is kept afloat on a mixture of contracted labour and nationalized companies, various grants and loans, and various astroturfed labour movements shoring up support and personnel for the still ongoing colonization progress. Unfortunately, this has become a battleground for the corporate-state internal hegemony of the system. While its battles are fought quietly and often behind closed doors, a growing number of the populace are beginning to have doubts about the viability of the grand project. Currently a multi-partisan movement to reach out to the SSM is picking up traction as old fears of the socialist power fall before the need for a reliable trading partner who can possibly negate the growing amoutn of the GDW influence in the system.

Eos - A world characterized by dense forests and irregular fang-like rock formations. A decade and a half ago it was the site of a long-term development plan meant to help kickstart the Gronskandian economy. Multiple parties aim to present it an appealing planetary asset to investors from the GDW and SSM alike. Recently the planet has gone silent after a faulty alarm mistook a rapidly moving asteroid for an unidentified military vessel.
