• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

History

The Dahan Class FTL Mothership is the Heaven Forged Republic's first venture into mobile SLE spacecraft. After the confederacy's formation and during Operation Distant Flock, the AU and GDW occupied HFR's stationary SLE's, requiring numerous, subservient treaties that put the HFR's interstellar sovereignty at the mercy of these foreign powers. In desperate need to solidify its own independence as an interstellar power, plans were hastily drawn up in 2262 to design a mobile SLE to rival that of the AU, less than a decade after the nation's founding. Wreckage of old PRC prototypes and backup design documents were recovered. Retired AU engineers were consulted at great cost. For two decades, designs and small prototypes were made for a homegrown mobile SLE. It wasn't until 2285 that the first functionally sized, ship-based SLE, the CG-A001, began construction, completed and tested in 2290. A second iteration took three years to build and test, before the third iteration, the CG-A003, was completed in 2300 and authorized for integration with other spacecraft systems. 2303 saw the first HFR mobile SLE, the Dahan, leave Zhuque orbit and successfully make its first interstellar transit from the Li Ming system into the Shen Zhou system, demonstrating to the rest of the human community of the HFR's ability to protect its star systems and project power. By 2322, six total Dahan class FTL Motherships were built.

Overview

The Dahan Class is built around its massive CG-A003 SLE, a complex, hollow cylindrical structure filled with Wolfeonium coils, liquid hydrogen pipes, and super-capacitors, all encased in a hexagonal superstructure. Surrounding the superstructure are four Yuexing/越星/Cross-Star CJ-B005 Dual-grade Fusion Torch Drives that span the entire length of the ship, each having nozzles on both ends to allow the mothership to accelerate and decelerate without requiring a flip-and-burn maneuver. The bulk volume of these drives is filled with liquid fusion fuels, not only required to arrest the large mass of the spacecraft, but also to power the energy-hungry SLE. Each of the drive superstructures are also mounted sensor arrays that give the vessel adequate situational awareness with escort. Large heat radiators fan out from these superstructures, interwoven with plumbing for water and liquid fusion fuels that carry the excessive amounts of waste heat generated from the fusion engines and SLE. Finally, at the bow of the ship is located the command module and crew quarters, with airlocks that allow for crew and cargo transfer.

The Dahan Class performs FTL, interstellar transits by revving up its SLE, creating a lane of compressed spacetime in front and around it as it travels forward. This bubble of compressed spacetime is large enough to allow other ships to travel alongside the Dahan Class, giving it its mothership capabilities.

All Dahan Class FTL Motherships are designated as CGMJ-##, CGMJ for Chaoguang Mujian/超光母艦/FTL Mothership. They are named after Chinese dynasties.
