Following the American Union elections in 2321, the William Tweed was assigned to the 26th fleet as part of the first wave of ships to restore access and stabilize the Atlantica System. It would participate in the First Battle of Atlantica and would be cut in half by repeated missile strikes to the mid-section. The ship would be abandoned with its crew recovered by the AUS Huey Long. The ship was recovered and participated in various operations before being sent back to the Sol system for rebuild into the Elder Statesmen class.
