• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Name (TBD): Kuafu, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuafu#:~:text=In modern Chinese usage, the, obstacles to reach the goal.

Functions:

Operational up to 200 Celsius, capable of surviving the sweltering heat of Wu Zetian's deserts.

Full life support for those inside, primarily temperature regulation and water conservation.

Mobility on desert terrain: craggy surfaces, dunes, steep hills, etc.

A turreted machine gun to deal with raiders.

A compartment for captured raiders.

Communication systems with satellites and relay stations.

Enough supplies to last 48 hours.

It'll most likely look like an armed Martian rover. Large transparent panels for visibility, fully enclosed space.

Looking at some stuff on 'How to build high temperature machines' ( https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/phys-2019-0068/html?lang=en ) and I think just getting it operational in 200 degree weather is going to be the main engineering challenge here.

Maybe a reflective top and the interior basically being a well insulated refrigerator?

Could see it having a large water supply that could be frozen as much as possible during night-time to act as a thermal-battery for the day.

Also TIL, Oxygen isn't actually flammable by itself. No need to worry about the air catching on fire when you get up to some amount of degrees Celsius: http://scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.php?key=954

The methods to deal with high environmental pressure don't look like they'll be represented visually, except for the highly reflective roof. The technical's front windows will have to be angled downwards to prevent excessive sunlight entering the interior.

I like the idea of plumbing running through the entirety of the walls like blood vessels to reduce energy required to actively cool the interior down.

Was never that concerned about oxygen fires.

Alternatively, for the sake of rule of cool, we could have one way windows so I don't have to deal with a symmetrical trapazoidal look that resembles an old timey camper's van.

200 degrees is a lot of degrees.

Maybe just skip windows entirely and use cameras?

An analog option should be available for viewing, especially if these patrols are going to be under supported.
