• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Chapter 2: The Ruins Are Alive

Vlad grumbled as he looked at his radio, which had gotten reset, its batteries replaced, and its settings messed with in a vain attempt to contact the Soyuz fleet. "Typical officers," he said, shaking his head as they walked, before joining Korofi in an attempt to add some levity. "Send us off...

    Chapter 1a: Training the Nerds

"Now comes the lesson on when to shoot. You might not like the answers. Come on, sit somewhere. Question One: When should you shoot?" Maksim crossed his legs and sat on the floor. He didn't answer, instead twiddling his thumbs uncomfortably and glancing at Benjamin to possibly answer. The...

    Chapter 1a: Training the Nerds

Maksim stood still as her voice sounded in his ears. He felt a little sad for Eliza. From the moment he met her, Maksim could sense that certain constant on-edge energy from her that soldiers who had actually seen real combat all seemed to share. He hoped that through this training he could...

    Chapter 1a: Training the Nerds

Eliza stood in a haphazardly made training room. It was, in essence, a storage room with all the storage pushed to the side, allowing for a really small gun range. On the wall, she placed two targets, the visage of a human man with several ranges tranced along it denoting different points for...

Node System Discussion 2, Electric Boogaloo

Well, the Theradectans have been/are being written as if they had access to nodes throughout their history, besides the splinter group on Outremer. And as far as I know, the Vrexul are written with the same assumption?

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

Vlad's face darkened as he looked at the carnage in what would have passed for fairly spacious living quarters back home in Akhtubinsk. "Da, we knew civilians were here," the Russian said. "The aliens might have been doing things to the bodies recently, but that charring looks older than that."...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

Vlad stayed behind as well, keeping an eye on the group's surroundings while vainly trying to wipe xeno blood off his uniform. He did chuckle at the two squadmate's attempts at jokes, before trying his own. "Wait, in the GDW, you don't bleed when you go to the gym? Are you even trying?" he...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

“Vot eto pizdets,” Vlad grumbled as he wiped at his visor, trying in vain to get the alien blood off. Giving up, since he could see well enough to fight, he fired a burst into the alien’s smoking corpse before turning to Jurgen and seeing his directions. “You know?” the Russian said, firing his...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

"Whoops," Vladimir said, cringing at the scraping sound of his knife blade against the sergeant's helmet. "Sorry, comrade. Let me get a better grip on this damn..." He trailed off as the alien bug turned to come at him instead. "Govno, mudak," he said, pulling his arms in between his chest and...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

"Why do you think I'm trying to keep it still?" Vlad asked, grunting as the alien struggled underneath his hand and knife. "I'm willing to listen to better ideas, comrade, but I'm going to keep stabbing until then."

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

"Belay that, cover me, comrades," Vlad said, letting his rifle hang by it's sling as he grabbed Jurgen and pulled him back behind cover. "Keep firing, I'll get this off him," he continued, taking off the knife from his rifle, pinned the centipede down on the German's head with his left hand, and...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

"One second, comrades," Vladimir said, pulling a flashbang from his pack. "Let's see how this chuzhak likes bright lights. Fire in the hole!" With that warning given, he pulled the pin and tossed the grenade around the corner before covering his eyes. Bang, went the explosive and Vlad leaped...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

Vlad was busy repacking his backpack from the ill-conceived attempt to catch the alien when one of the troopers said he heard something else. "Next time, I'm advocating for just nuking the entire place from orbit," he said, sighing as he zipped his pack closed. His supplies repacked, the Russian...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

"Better it meatloaf than us, da?" Vladimir asked, reloading his gun as he walked up to Jurgen. "If we're worried about the electronic thing, should get that back to base, unless one of you forgot to say that you're an electrical engineer."

    Chapter 6: Taming a Giant

"So, what would the Giant know about us?" Beatrix asked Eberhard, trying to think through how to respond. "Like, can we try tricking them into thinking we're here to help them extract?"

    Chapter 6: Taming a Giant

Safe bet is to just stand back and let the missiles do their work and then pick over the pieces, Beatrix said, frowning as she looked at the situation. But if that was an option, we wouldn't have tried to board them in the first place. Fuck. "Okay, new plan," she told the people in the...

    Chapter 1: Vital Signs Unwelcome

Vladimir nodded, pointing at a few squaddies, saying, "Follow me, comrades," before charging off through a side passage. Though tempted to not take time to check for trouble, he didn't know if there weren't more than one of the aliens running around, so he took a little time as he sprinted from...

Project Jupiter: Fleshing out the Jovian System in Preparation for Plots

https://www.centauri-dreams.org/2016/08/03/antimatter-production-harvesting-in-space/ Maybe some of the research going on around Jupiter is catching the antimatter in it's magentosphere? Apparently Saturn is better, but I'm assuming more people, thus researchers, are around Jupiter. Edit: On...
