• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

"Tamade..." The Ox-Form cursed under his breath. He got careless, gladly throwing himself into a killzone: long corridors with no cover. If the humans were any smarter they'd be filling the shaft with bullets as well. "I spent too much time in on the bridge." Wen observed in VR, leaving his...

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

Wen dutifully split off from Hoshiko, heading right, flying through the corridors. His virtual figure solemnly stood still and silent, while his meatspace-self scoffed at the discussion of court etiquette. It bored and annoyed him, a silver lining to five years of pirate duty: avoiding the fake...

    Sports: Bionetic and Cybernetic Regulation

So the conversation came up in VC about sports. How does one ensure fair play when people are running around with cybernetics and bionetics? Cybernetics might seem obvious: just don't allow cybernetic limbs. But that'd rule out a significant portion of the population who have cybernetics...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"Hmmm." Bukang gave the "look" at Amisra at the mention of magic. It was an all too familiar expression made by the humans, even towards those in their own ranks with divergent ethics and beliefs, an expression that every Aos Si had to grow accustomed too as they attempted to forge bonds with...

    Zhuque UES Ang'pi-Class Gunship

The thought behind this write up came from the thought that we're unlikely to see WWII, cold war, and modern war scenarios amongst the human factions in the setting as the human combat doctrine relies on drones, long range missiles, and small groups of highly trained teams. If humans do conduct...

Alternatively, for the sake of rule of cool, we could have one way windows so I don't have to deal with a symmetrical trapazoidal look that resembles an old timey camper's van.

    HFR-Shen Zhou-Wu Zetian-Rover Technical

The methods to deal with high environmental pressure don't look like they'll be represented visually, except for the highly reflective roof. The technical's front windows will have to be angled downwards to prevent excessive sunlight entering the interior. I like the idea of plumbing running...

Political Situation on Zhuque Between the HFR and the Aos Si

First, some historical background. The HFR is made of a people deeply paranoid of two things: one is the Daqinren, whose predecessors were directly responsible for the decapitation of the PRC, indirectly responsible for the power vacuum conflicts and millions of deaths afterwards. Two are...

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

Wen was stuck with the burning man flailing about, flying towards him. He briefly considered looking for an extinguisher to put out the fire, and then prevent it from spreading to the rest of the ship, but decided against it. There were only four of them. They can't afford to look after a human...

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

"Everything's a weapon in space, Lady Hoshiko." Wen knit his eyebrows, not making eye contact as he carefully maneuvered the corvette to line up a fast acceleration burn to touching distance with the cargocraft. "The humans are dumbasses, but they have the mass. Today, we only have a single...

Wen shook his head in response to Koyama's question. "I've been keeping our drive plume in our shadow. HFR Press Conference - Right to Self-Determination

"I assume you're referring to those currently under HFR jurisdiction. The process towards self-determination is one that'll take years, during which the colony in question still abides by HFR laws, enjoys HFR protection and trade policies. The fate of the colony is determined on a case by case...
