• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"The Aos Si... you... have always been deliberate, clean, graceful, even in the face of extinction." Bukang recalled, clearly referring to the first human landings on the planet. It was unclear if it was a compliment or not; such grace didn't save the Aos Si from annihilation; the humans' own...

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

"Gaaaah!" Wen winced as the container gave way behind his back, throwing his body through the hail of packaged food. Hard blocks and pellets pelted his armor and helmet as he emerged on the other side, almost at a stop in the middle of the long chamber, the container having fell all the way down...

Political Situation on Zhuque Between the HFR and the Aos Si

Much to the displeasure of arms manufacturers in the CoD, the human government prohibits any and all arms exports to the Aos Si nations. That hasn't stopped work arounds though. For great price, individual Aos Si nations have hired skilled human gunsmiths to create weapons directly in their...

    Menel'Fen-Gongchuang Station

The Menel'Fen-Gongchuang (Heaven's gate-Cooperative creation) Station is a joint UES/CoD orbital platform above Zhuque, a symbol of cooperation between humans and Aos Si. The station was primarily designed by the UES with human assistance, the Aos Si contributing raw resources, manpower, and...

United Erinun States, and other thoughts on the Aos Si

Dystopic, smog ridden cities in the UES do not exist. Neither does grim working conditions, polluted rivers, garbage mountains; the priests in the UES have sought that preventative regulations are created and implemented. Rather, the sinister reality is invisible in the UES: soft, alien, human...

United Erinun States, and other thoughts on the Aos Si

The UES' modernization has come at a political and cultural cost. In order to minimize their damage to the environment, damage that carries great religious burdens, the UES relies heavily on carbon scrubbers and detoxification catalysts for their factories. Mining operations require expensive...

United Erinun States, and other thoughts on the Aos Si

The UES name themselves "the first born", considering themselves to be the first enlightened with the reality of their world, that magic has diminished and they must use technology to survive. Still, they're quite religious and environmentalist by human standards, worshipping an pantheon of gods...

Zhuque UES Nan'Tin-Class Surface-to-Orbit Launch Vehicle

The Nan'Tin, Mother Star, is a large rocket launch system developed by the United Erinun States, proportions resembling the Earth-based, North American Saturn V of the human, late 20th century. With a primary, liquid-hydrogen-oxygen engine motor, secondary thrusters form three rings along the...

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

"Tamade..." The Ox-Form cursed under his breath. He got careless, gladly throwing himself into a killzone: long corridors with no cover. If the humans were any smarter they'd be filling the shaft with bullets as well. "I spent too much time in on the bridge." Wen observed in VR, leaving his...

Day in the Life: Escape from the Heavenly State

Wen dutifully split off from Hoshiko, heading right, flying through the corridors. His virtual figure solemnly stood still and silent, while his meatspace-self scoffed at the discussion of court etiquette. It bored and annoyed him, a silver lining to five years of pirate duty: avoiding the fake...

    Sports: Bionetic and Cybernetic Regulation

So the conversation came up in VC about sports. How does one ensure fair play when people are running around with cybernetics and bionetics? Cybernetics might seem obvious: just don't allow cybernetic limbs. But that'd rule out a significant portion of the population who have cybernetics...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"Hmmm." Bukang gave the "look" at Amisra at the mention of magic. It was an all too familiar expression made by the humans, even towards those in their own ranks with divergent ethics and beliefs, an expression that every Aos Si had to grow accustomed too as they attempted to forge bonds with...
