• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Founded in the year 2167, Underwood was made as a successor to Winchester and Smith & Wesson-the two companies had gone bankrupt in 2087 due to a waning public interest in classical weaponry, with new and fancier firearms taking the public’s fancy by storm. But James Underwood, then the owner of a wealthy shipping company, wouldn’t-nay, couldn’t stand for such a loss of tradition. He would be damned if the ways of his ancestors of the Wild West were lost to these newfangled guns full of fancy schmancy gizmos and gadgets!

Selling his company for a tidy sum, Underwood founded his new firearms company and named it after himself-vanity was a weakness of his, as was a terrible lack of creativity. His first guns were simple lever action repeaters and revolvers, modeled after the original designs pioneered by John Winchester and Samuel Colt; utilizing modern gunsmithing techniques, he refined the designs into incredibly accurate and responsive firearms, designs that would make John Moses Browning green with envy. With that done, he launched a massive PR campaign, basing his advertisements off of appeals to emotion and a desire for a return to the “good ol days”. It was an incredible success-in just a few short months, sales skyrocketed as people of all walks of life flocked to purchase Underwood’s revolvers and rifles. He quickly expanded into other classical designs, ranging from two-shot pocket pistols to double barreled elephant guns, and ever since then Underwood has thrived as a company, now standing as one of the largest and most well-known brands in the known galaxy.

Today, Underwood guns are primarily used by big game hunters, wilderness rangers, and everyday common folk-very few other brands make guns in large enough calibers to take down large alien fauna, and Underwood firearms are cheap, reliable, and easy to fix compared to most modern firearms, all qualities that appeal to those who live in the middle of nowhere or don't have the time or money to meticulously repair various electronics. They rarely see use in the military, but are sometimes utilized when dealing with large fauna.
