Background

The Q25 Main Battle Carbine is the culmination of a centuries-long campaign by both the CCP and the comparatively-infantile HFR to standardize weaponry across the interstellar empire. While the confederate member states continue to develop firearms unique to their circumstances, the Q25 is a widely accepted choice for off-world peacekeeping and anti-piracy operations. In the Sol system, the URC fields the Q25 extensively to compete against the other interstellar powers.

Layout

The Q25 (Q for 輕, qing, light) is of lightweight construction and a tight profile, a bullpup, necessitated by limited mass allowance and space on spacecraft that transport the carbine and its users across interstellar distances. It prominently features a hydraulic dampener at the buttstock, and a 4-way recoil control system at the front barrel, which uses gas generated by the cartridge for aim assist during prolonged, automatic fire. A laser range-finder and infrared sensor are dual mounted on the front, left-side of the carbine. A QN-7 "Gun Brain" computer resting inside the grip coordinates between the on-weapon sensors and the user's on-suit sensors, along with the recoil control systems, to conduct aim assist. The carbine's primary structure is perforated, for both mass savings and for thermal control in vacuum environments. Finally, a main rail at the top of the gun and a secondary rail at the bottom, in front of the grip, allow for a variety of attachments. Q25's are mounted with a red dot sight by default.
