• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

The 12.5 GKF (12.5x40.4mm) is a standard issue cartridge distributed across the HFR. It was first developed by Shandong Industries in 2283, as part of the larger standardization program spearheaded by Republic Space Command (RSC, GKF for the pingying acronym) to simplify logistics in the confederacy. Soon after its development, production licenses were granted to multiple space and ground based factories in all three Confederate star systems. The 12.5 GKF is most prominently used by the Q25 Main Battle Carbine, though various local firearm models also use the standard cartridge. Its primarily application is anti-infantry and anti-drone, with minor armor piercing characteristics.

The 12.5 GKF is fundamentally a gyrojet, a solid fuel rocket. The solid propellant is stored inside a soft steel case with angled nozzles, with a pin at the bottom center. The warhead is made of a lead-antimony softcore, spearheaded and wrapped by hardened steel. When a hammer strikes the pin, the propellant ignites, spinning the cartridge and accelerating it forward at the same time. Tests conducted show that the 12.5 GKF reliably pierces environmental suits and suit visors, before tumbling in the human body. However, it is far less effective against top-of-the-line body armor used by elite infantry units of other nations, requiring careful precision to strike weak points, or to switch to a larger caliber bullet altogether.
