MAG-24 Hypervelocity Infantry handled Marker Rocket (HiMark)
The MAG-24 is a Hypervelocity rocket loaded with a specialized reflective paint payload designed to mark targets or to disable vehicles by covering their external sensors.
Overview
Device: MAG-24
Type: Target Marker Missile
Operators: Magnetic Assembly
Manufacturer: Magnetic Assembly
History
After the New Years Revolution in the Hawking System, the Magnetic Assembly would find itself without access to many of the weapon systems that were part of the American Union's arsenal that were not being produced locally. As the collaboration efforts with the HFR allowed Assembly forces to participate in the HFR's operations, a lack of firepower was determined to be a problem as the well armored transports of the Assembly were left vulnerable when their lightly armored Spongecake drones were left unable to keep up with them after sustaining indirect hits during combat. After evaluating the different weapons that could be added to the Simods APC, it was determined that shoulder launched missiles would be the best option for improving firepower, considering the power, weight, and size requirements of the vehicle that would make mounting additional weapons on top difficult.
One of the new weapons developed from this initiative was the MAG-24 HiMark. The Assembly would use the Handheld Hypervelocity missile design of the UG-20, and replace the tungsten penetrator with a special marker-ink payload, using the kinetic energy of the missile's impact eject the material over the target.
Layout
The Hi-Hat is a conventional shoulder-launched missile stored in a tube, with a basic shoulder pad, trigger assembly, and red-dot sight.
Usage
The Hi-Mark is a kinetic energy weapon that follows a flat trajectory until the rocket motor burns out and the missile goes ballistic. Upon impact the blast projects a layer of retro-reflective paint designed to coat and stick to everything within a few meters. This acts as both a retro-reflective marker that can easily be seen, and is easily illuminated as well as a soft-kill method for vehicles by covering optics, sensors, and other sensitive equipment.
