The L10 (L for 獵, lie, hunt) Li Ming Hunter Rifle is a large, semi-automatic rifle provided in limited quantities to rural and suburban populations of Zhuque in the Li Ming system. Zhuque is a planet rich with aggressive and dangerous wildlife, creating colonial casualties before and after Zhongzhi. Despite Li Ming's general prohibition on civilian firearms, the successive administrations felt the wildlife issue prudent enough to arm its civilian population with the L10 and its predecessors, but not without major caveats. Citizens applying for the L10 must prove that they live on border regions with a large wildlife threat. They must go through a year of firearms safety and handling training, must be an adult of the household, and are restricted to one firearm per household.
The L10 is a purposefully bulky and unwieldy gun, requiring the user to have full control and knowledge of the terrain, and preparation for proper use. Once an L10 is set up in a fixed position, however, the L10 is easy to use and aim, with good recoil control through the hydraulically dampened stock. The standard L10 is equipped with a basic red dot sight, a thermal sight, and a low resolution heartbeat sensor. It uses a custom, large caliber cartridge that isn't compatible with any other weapon officially made by manufacturers. Likewise, no other cartridge is compatible with the L10, though unscrupulous vendors are happy to provide through the Li Ming system's black market. Ammo capacities are restricted to ten to twelve rounds per magazine depending on the administration. The skin of the L10 is determined by the government, dependent on the region the owner-to-be is located in, whether it be in the white tundra, the yellow deserts, or the red forests of Zhuque.
A variant of the L10, the L10-X (X for 魈, xiao, the name given to Aos Si by the Chinese), are provided to the native Aos Si living in isolated tribes across the planet as gifts of friendship and diplomacy. The L10-X is lighter and shorter with its electronics removed, with an easy to maintain, analog recoil dampener system. Sights are replaced with ancient iron sights and hardened glass scopes. Additional accessories such as forward grips, and cartridges of any capacity, are provided to the Aos Si as they request. Though, due to lingering doubt and hints of xenophobia in the Li Ming administration, bullets provided to the Aos Si are laced with metal alloys not present in the standard L10 cartridges.
