Korolyov (Russian: Королёв) is named after the Hero of Socialist Labour and Chief Designer of the Soviet Space Program, Col. Sergey Pavlovich Korolyov. The moon has an eccentric orbit which varies its status as the outermost satellite of Gagarin, referencing Korolyov’s overseer status over USSR’s pioneering missions involving Y. A. Gagarin, V. V. Tereshkova and Laika. It is a frozen moon without an atmosphere.
