• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

UES Government Structure

The UES is a Constitutional Theocracy, with the Temple of Praui Nimloth being social, religious, and culturally ruling body, while the UES Parliament taking charge of economic and military affairs. Officially, at the top of UES power is the Arch Bishop, who grants power to the UES Parliament through the remnants of the natural pantheon's favor. At the base of the Temple of Praui Nimloth are Priests, who take charge of local temples and guide the local population spiritually. Regional priests are supervised by a few High Priests in the UES, who may appoint priests with the Arch Bishop's approval. The Arch Bishop also appoints bishops, who are simply priests or High Priests with one additional important function: to elect the new Arch Bishop upon the current Arch Bishop's passing or resignation.

The UES Parliament is heavily modeled after the human democratic structure, members of parliament (MP's) forming the legislative branch that elects the Prime Minister who heads the executive branch. Together, MP's and the PM appoint and build up the Judicial Branch, the justices serving much longer terms than those of the other two branches. Informally, the TPN puts great pressure on the UES Parliament when it comes to decision making, especially in matters of religious freedom (or lack thereof), environmentalism, and social conduct.
