Stopgap Ruling
The spirit of a stopgap ruling is to temporarily quell discourse until a new formal rule can come in place to more permanently address the issue. A stopgap ruling is only valid until the new formal rule comes into play. Each stopgap ruling only applies to the actors involved in the discourse. Each stopgap ruling must be recorded in #staff-logs and given a reason for the ruling. Stopgap rulings expire within seven days. Afterwards, a simple majority staff vote is held on whether to maintain the ruling or have another staff make a different ruling.
Stopgaps rulings are granted to game masters in their own Discord channels. In general, stopgap rulings are granted to all staff until January 9th, 2021. Afterwards, general stopgap rulings are only available to community moderators.
