• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Inner Sol System, interplanetary space around Earth-Sol Orbit

"Mantian (Roam the Skies), Sousuo-One (Search) reporting. Our sensors are at their limits; no stealth missiles detected, just the corvettes."

"Sousuo-Two reporting. Negative reporting on hostile assets. Looks like the mongrels were in a rush."

"Copy that, Sousuo Squadron. Corvettes of Sol-One-One, this is the GKFJ Mantian, do you read?"

"..."

"Ships of Sol-One-One, this is the GKFJ Mantian, is anyone alive out there?"

"... KKKKKKRRR ... Oh thank heavens! Mantian, this is Liexi-Two, we're in pretty bad shape here. The captain's dead, our engines are trashed, and we're running low on oxygen."

"Hagui-One here! We're tumbling! Multiple casualties on board! Two crew members missing!"

Li Mingzao (Forge Bright) listened to the radio chatter between the bridge and the survivors as she tied her hair into a bun in the armory. Like the rest of Hongyun (Red Cloud) Squad, she was tall and muscular, donning a mechanically pressured environmental suit that was loose and comfortable during down time, but hugged tight to the skin with the press of a button. It was dark grey, black lines dividing the patches of laminated fabric and mechanical fiber bundles. On the back was a bright, yellow emblem of the greater HFR; on the left breast was woven that of their respective home state. For Mingzao, it was Li Ming. One of her squadmates hailed from Shen Zhou, the other two the URC.
