• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

IDS Yīnghuā - Log 1.0: Swift as the Wind and Quick as Lightning (風馳電掣)

"Imperial Command is making dangerous choices here," Wen commented. In meatspace, he suited up into his environmental protection gear and strapped into a flak vest. "You are not only allowing a high ranking officer to be present in a hostile, unknown environment, but also authorizing the...

IDS Yīnghuā - Log 1.0: Swift as the Wind and Quick as Lightning (風馳電掣)

"Dumb cow got fucked so hard by her new husband she turned deaf. Or left with a single neuron." Wen jeered in virtual space as his physical body mechanically prepared his suit and equipment for an orbital drop. With every heartbeat, the muscles in his chest ached and his rib cage strained, as...

IDS Yīnghuā - Log 1.0: Swift as the Wind and Quick as Lightning (風馳電掣)

Wen stood behind Hoshiko awkwardly in the virtual reality, standing near one of the wall, though his large size had him take up half the false hallway nonetheless. He didn't need to be here. Beyond the alien gem implant into his heart, he still had his regular officer duties, taking up a quiet...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen watched with wide eyed horror from the surgical table as the casual maternal violence continued. I need a fucking drink, he thought to himself. He wanted to intervene again, like the rookie was in front of him, though she was making a fool of herself more than any actual progress. Though...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen stood in his own mind space, dumbfounded. With all the mental fortitude he could muster, he tried to pull together his own senses to comprehend what was occurring. Numb to the real world, he could only piece together that the Mother Empress did something to bring in the form and sapience of...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen knelt on the ground in silence, breathing heavily, sweat falling from his face and warm air billowing out of his nostrils like an ancient steam engine. Given his artificial design, flesh and machine was a blurry difference. His body cranked back to life, as he tried to pull his neurons back...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen's form remained stiff, still kneeling on one knee in front of the Empress, his face hidden from view. In virtual reality, his crippled form glitched in and out of existence, before blinking from reality completely. Pain struck through his broken mind like lightning, glass shattering...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Garbled thoughts ran through Wen's mind. His heart beat harder than usual, and he winced at an upcoming headache. No, not you, not here... Wen kept eyes to the floor, not daring to witness the fondling occuring before him. The garbled alien dialect coalesced into legible Chinese. His own...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen narrowed his eyes at Koyama, reading the text in virtual reality with his crippled alter-ego. He sighed, taking a step back to gather his composure and straighten himself again. "Apologies accepted, Princess, but you won't accept one from me; I did what I had to to protect Her Highness." He...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen knelt on the ground, clutching his crown jewels with one hand. He wasn't concerned at all of losing the inability to procreate; every Daqinren had their sex cells safely preserved in cryostasis, ready to be used for vat growth. No, the dragon-form struck him where the pain receptors were the...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

For the past 24 hours, Wen had to grapple with an angry Aos Si soul stuck in his fractured mind space. Trying to understand her madness went nowhere, between the Aos Si dialect that he couldn't understand, and Mandarin gibberish. The wench once again took away some of his honor and decorum, and...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

The conversation around Wen was drowned out by a ringing in his ears. His eyes fixed on the source of the glow, a red jewel-material at the heart of the beast. He blinked, trying to concentrate on possible explanations for that glow. Bioluminescene Waning heat Elemental radiation Birthright of...

    README

The very first step of character creation is figuring out which plot to play in. Nobles of Null is a fractured setting with limited mixing of nationalities and species. Thus, the options available may be limited depending on the local setting of the individual plot. [Link] Once you've found a...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"I agree with the dumb cow on this. We need to get you out of here." Wen added with a huff. He couldn't see the Rooster-form in meatspace, but the shared virtual reality pointed him in her direction. He ignored the indicator for now. He mentally clicked his close quarter firearm routine to...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

The fact that the monster was an alien that disguised itself as a unicorn would've wrangled Wen's mind further, if he wasn't overwhelmed with adrenaline as he barely dodged the arc of plasma sent in his direction. He panted heavily, letting instincts take over. While he was a Daqinren with much...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Oh you're mother fucking kidding me." It didn't take long for Wen to search through his data banks and find several entries for mythological beasts that were equestrian with horns. "Is that a unicorn?!" He remarked to the group in hushed, frustrated tones as he also readied his weapon, and...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"I high doubt that." Wen commented back. He kept his guard up, periodically scanning the corpses to give his onboard computers as much forensic data as possible. A list of possible causes of death scrolled past his eyes, starting from the most common, down to the more esoteric possibilities...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"So a random merchant gets access to the Empire's finest weapons, but one of Mother Empress' direct children doesn't? Who fucked up in the bureaucracy?" Wen asked incredulously. He peered down the cavern, using his helmet's sensors to build a rough 3D map of the interior. "Splitting paths and...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Dumb cow, quit whining, and keep the comms clean: physical reality here is having a hard time keeping itself pulled together as is." Wen jeered with annoyance as he rappelled down off of the transport, landing with a slight thud onto the mushy jungle terrain with the weight of his weapons, his...
