• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

"No, the computer said the blackbox was the secondary objective, and that's what I'm going with." Comprendea stated quickly, making his way to their destination with the others. "Blackbox may be more informative, but the people are the one's we're rescuing. That's what makes it a rescue...

    Chapter 4: First Trial

KB-231 lived in what amounted to a storage closet with a large socket set. He didn't actually need it, he was essentially self-powering, but he felt it fit the aesthetic he was going for. Maybe he get some skulls on the wall, some bones, but those were thoughts for another time. He moved down...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

KB-231 had placed the panel back, securing it against the rigors of space, before following Marius' lead back into the ship. He passed by Marius and Cindy talking, pausing to speak to them. "I was a few months old when I first killed a human. A few months more killing an Aos Si. A few months...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

"Geez yeah," Comprendea sighed, "I got to sit for like a minute and that was just her talking." With a grunt he stood up, instinctively stroking his moustache as he walked over to the lockers. "Taxi service for the unlucky, what a joy to work with we are." He opened his locker and started...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

Comprendea' Ganancia had spent most of the trip wandering around the ship, giving nods of greeting to anyone he passed. When the alarm sounded he'd been in his room just chilling with some books on his information machine. The call wasn't unwelcome however, it meant things got to happen, and by...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

The machine stared at him for a few seconds longer. Whether it caught a lie, a falsehood, or just plain didn't trust Marius, it's face revealed nothing. "Yes. A broader scope than the common man. I'm sure." The machine gave another artificial chuckle, and turned it's full attention to it's work...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

KB-231 let out a noise that sounded like a mechanical chuckle, making use of the private channel. "Yes, as I said it was most likely an old decision they cannot take back." The machine's face turned partially to Marius, two eyes turned to face Marius. He needed only a few of his eyes to work...

Chapter 10: Vipers Amongst the Sands

The Middle East held a lot of bad memories for Juan. So many people had died here, and so many of them he'd liked. Not to mention the shitty circumstances that sent him there in the first place. It was just as hot as before, this literal hellscape. Juan hated it here. He hated this job for...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

The machine's clawed hands clamped down around the tools, moving them with ease. Seems machinery had developed even better motor skills in however long Marius had been chilling in space. KB-231 began their work, and began explaining it as they did so. Thankfully their voice settled on something...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

KB-231 kept the dark stare up for a few seconds more. "It is impossible to ever know for sure. Simply try not to think that some of the stars are looking back." Finally, after an uncomfortable amount of time, the emotionless machine looked towards the work that needed to be done. His voice...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

A lesser machine, one of those halfcocked cyborgs, might have called Marius' uselessness adorable. KB-231 felt no such way. He felt instead pity for this meat bag thrust into a situation he clearly was not ready for. Why had the captain opted to send the meat shield to hold 231's tools? Perhaps...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

"Survivors have their uses. If you say there will be no survivors, I will make sure of it." In many respects survivors were good at spreading fear of your operations, something KB-231 was an expert in. However there were other cases when witnesses would only be a burden. This would be one of...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

The machine still stood stock still, only it's head moving about as it took in the sight of this odd crew. It had to be said that any crew of outlaws was bound to be somewhat varied, as one would be hard pressed to find such variations anywhere official. They were about order, making everything...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

KB-231 surveyed the crew that had amassed for this mission, and found them largely lacking. Perhaps he was merely self-confident, but if a bunch of fleshies were going to be the bulk of the crew so be it. Mortals had always been so interesting, in all their myriad justifications for murder and...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

KB-231 followed the individual now verbally confirmed as Alex, standing behind him, towering over the others in the bar. He spoke casually to Skolos, and thus indirectly with the nervous mortal he spoke to. "Combat in which I am involved is typically short, especially when pressed against humans...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

A business proposition had never interested KB-231's personality before he had learned of the wonderous world of mercenary work and bounty hunting. For the longest time he'd assumed he'd be selling what soul of personality he had forged for himself from the fires of conflict for human resources...

    Okigira: Testament

Ghelina dropped down next to Raymond, looking at him. "Get what want?" She asked, her little legs moving quickly to keep up with his 7 foot self. "I hope so." Raymond reached down for his spear, but also picked up Ghelina and put her on his shoulders at the same time. "I'm sorry I hurt your...

    Okigira: Testament

He stopped at a distance away from the Observatory. He clearly didn't think this through. How was he going to get in to confront the Master of Understanding? There was no way the guards are going to just let him in, and he didn't want to hurt anyone inside either. He walked around, pacing...

    Okigira: Testament

"You do," Mindy said. "But that just tells me you started digging for something, and someone didn't like that," She added. "Makes your wonder. Why do they throw out those who seek understanding through research and investigation, but keep those who will follow them blindly?" Raymond stayed...

    Okigira: Testament

Nodding, Esesks started walking into a bar, the sign reading 'The Thick Sip.' The bar seemed to cater to a specific clientele, horny people. The place was sporadically populated by people milling about, wearing a pointed amount of very little. Esesks seemed right at home here, walking up to the...
