• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

Comprendea had stared out into the storm, the hair on the back of his neck standing on end as he started breathing heavily. He responded quickly, "Ladies, there are ghosts in the storm!" He was backed against the ship, panting as he stared out into the roiling storm. "Shapes, organic and wild...

    Chapter 10: True Conversations

Gwaed, despite his enjoyment of culture, was too stubborn to care about the human's statue. How they could conceive of such a being was beyond him for the moment, instead he found himself walking up to the young trees and feeling along them. They reminded him of home, the home he'd found after...

    Chapter 10: True Conversations

"We wait then." Gwaed reasoned, huffing. "We wait to be forgotten, is that it? Our solution is to become forgotten, faces in the crowd?" As much as he hated the cameras, the constant surveillance, to be forgotten felt wrong. To be forgotten and cast aside, no. He didn't want that. He may not...

    Chapter 10: True Conversations

"Is there a hidden sword?" Gwaed asked bluntly. "I am of the expectation that where one does not find a blade in plain view, they know there is one hidden in the vicinity. That one is all the more dangerous, for it is a lie. I do not lie lightly, thus why my blade is in plain view." He crossed...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

"I have been methodically standing here, I would know if they were mine!" Comprendea was growing frustrated. "Just, finish up and come look outside. This place is horrible, and the storm is coming."

    Chapter 10: True Conversations

Gwaed stood a little behind Sai, indicating he had leisurely made his way to her only recently. They had all the time in the world, for the most part. He turned to the Professor, and grumbled. "I apologize for a sudden exit, and I add you to the list of the only individuals in that room I...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

"I love jokes," he replied, "but the main part of a good joke is the joke being funny and generally easy to tell it's a joke." He leaned into his helmet, though it wouldn't amplify his voice much. "This isn't a joke. I don't know what it is, ghosts, really specific wind patterns, but I swear to...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

"Uhhh," Comprendea stated suddenly, sounding concerned. He started moving up to the ship, towards the entrance his companions used while watching the ground with wide eyes. "I advise taking a look out of the ship. Not only is the storm fast approaching, but there are more footprints here. As in...

    Chapter 8: Negotiations

Gwaed looked to Amisra, suddenly conflicted. He didn't want to leave her in this den of vipers, worried for what she might say or do on behalf of their entire race. But... if he could leave her anywhere it would be best to leave her with her own kind, yes? Then all the serpents can slither...

    Chapter 8: Negotiations

Gwaed was inwardly shocked, which only registered on his face for a brief second before it gave way to a sort of elation and then settling back for amused. "How brave, finally, an individual in this room willing to speak clearly. The water is muddy so constantly, by dirt thrown into it by...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

"Good work Ell!" Compry was the kind to be a team player and one of the best ways to be a team player was to praise good work. It was like parenting but slightly more lax. Or... more violent, if you were in the military. Still speaking to the two of them over the radio, he offered his own...

    Chapter 4: First Trial

KB-231 didn't give any indication besides wordlessly moving to do as offered, blazing heat pouring from his palm to weaken the door at it's hinges before ripping it off with his intense strength, holding it at the mortal's chest levels so they could shoot as he walked forward with his new shield.

    Chapter 8: Negotiations

Gwaed ate, letting the politicians speak without speaking the truth to each other, each sentence wrapped in subtext and some with outright lies. He hated it, really. It always stood in the way of progress, pretending to be progress so that society eventually couldn't live without it. Things...

    Chapter 8: Negotiations

If courtly intrigue was a mainstay of elven society, Gwaed was an oddity of elven culture. He despised the politics. Long at the start of his military career he'd learned that such things got in the way of doing things well. So many things that needed to be said, lies and false promises made...

    Chapter 4: First Trial

KB-231 responded to Skolos without emotion, as the situation worsened slightly around them. "I will survive. The vacuum of space is nothing to me, and I can be repaired far more easily than you can." With a semi-condescending pat on the head of Skolos, the machine reasoned, "But at the very...

    Exclusion Zone: Black Box

Comprendea wasn't far behind, feeling the chill even past his suit. He was huddled against himself, walking through the snow and looking over the ship. "There's no footprints here, which means either they've already been covered up or something worse happened. I don't like the connotations of that."
  17. TheCountryWarrior

    Chapter 4: First Trial

KB-231 stood in their excuse for a drop pod, watching their fellows waiting to be deployed. They had no opinion on the turbulence, they were a machine, they didn't even need the pod to survive. These squishy humans and semi-humans needed the pod, but they'd at least be useful meat shields if...

    Chapter 8: Negotiations

The human was speaking to the cameras that owned the air around them, watching their every move. She was speaking to them, yes, but she was speaking for the cameras. For their benefit. Gwaed wanted to go home, even if home was just a hollow tree where he kept all his dashed hopes and dreams...

    Chapter 4: First Trial

KB-231 stood there, armed to the teeth and honestly bored with the conversation. He was a machine, he could receive mission updates immediately, so the briefing was a courtesy for him. "No survivors is best. No one to cry for help."

    Chapter 8: Negotiations

Gwaed stood like the picture perfect model of a Commander, back straight, face stern, eyes dark and intelligent. He didn't necessarily want to be the first to talk, but standing there saying nothing wasn't an option. He responded similarly to her, letting his voice in their tongue be heard. "I...
