• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia had wandered her way over to one of the opaque caskets. She wasn't an archaeologist but a certain familiarity with popular media, which often depicted creepy supernatural shit, had started to come up in the back of her consciousness to remind her that something felt off about a bunch of...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

No kill like overkill. Still, as Fia looked down at the decapitated construct, she couldn't help feeling a little out of place here. She had kneecapped it to prevent it from coming active and moving around easily, and could have easily done what the swordsman had - just blown its damned head...

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

'Harvey' looked like a fish dragged out of a lake. This seedy game parlor wasn't his sort of place. He didn't like the atmosphere, it seemed, but Fia could hardly care less; the know-it-all human had pissed her off earlier, and Fia wanted vengeance. She flipped the token to him. "Go on."...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia stood still for a few seconds more, waiting for the construct to move. When it didn't, she advanced upon it slowly to verify the damage. Once she had, she looked back over her shoulder. "That work for you?"

Fine by me. Fia lowered her aim, making the gun bark twice - Once, for each kneecap.

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

Fia sat in the back office, fiddling with the ends of her freshly cropped hair and watching the trial. The old woman, Lao's wife, was trying to defend herself against every bit of evidence provided by her husband's security firms. They were expensive and through - only, they didn't work for her...

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

"Cut my hair?" Fia gave her boss a dubious look, but that didn't seem to change things very much. "It's fine for the local work, Silk, just not for this." Darethon soothed, from the other end of a card table in the back of one of the cabarets the House used as a convenient bolthole - where Fia...

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

Lao Fan lived in a villa overlooking a valley that, a hundred years ago, had been a crater. Nature had reclaimed its own, washing away the blood and viscera of war with a pure and unblemished expanse of greenery that Fia appreciated from a second story balcony. The trip had taken her into the...

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

Fioda didn't think of herself as bloody minded, but she also didn't really view humans as people in the strictest sense. They could be nice or they could be assholes. So could anyone. But they didn't live long enough to really figure out which they were and Fia just didn't enjoy giving them...

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

The ink wasn't dry on her new tattoo before she found herself being led up a high-rise in the best part of the capital. They had passed through open country, a trip that took them almost to morning, and Fioda had been Briefed. She had also given them her list. The list, in essence, contained...

    Pre-Jing: Fioda

Fioda had become used to being picked up in unmarked vehicles, but this one gave her pause. Though the back windows were tinted, the front windows weren't. She could see that the driver was another Aos'si. The choice struck her as odd; usually the sort of men who hired aos'si escorts weren't...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"Can either of you or one of the drones get a good scan while it's inert?" Fioda knew a number of non-lethal takedowns. Most of them were for other people but a couple took advantage of the relatively linear way most androids or robotics moved. She could probably get rid of a few pesky tendons...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia kept her rifle trained on the construct, but didn't fire immediately. She did a brief flashlight scan around the visible area near it - up, down, both sides - then just kept her rifle's light trained on it, one more beam next to the half dozen or so drone cameras. Partly it was curiosity...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"That might be worth a try. If they're draining it, they probably run off it too." Fia descended into the small makeshift armory with the other two, a bullpup rifle slung over her chest and her helmet sealing her otherwise airtight suit. Neither the appearance nor capabilities were different...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia rubbed at the bridge of her nose, staving off a headache. Did this matter? No. Crisis averted. It irritated her that both lovebirds would die for a building, but since that didn't seem necessary anymore, the point was moot. She'd get Amisra back for the sword comment later. Or, more...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia rolled her eyes. It was just stuff. Was she really going to have to explain how important it was that Amisra get out of this alive? She almost thought not, but changed her mind. She disengaged the stabilizing thrusters, allowing them to auto-correct the drift. Then she keyed the mic and...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia made an estimate. Her two fleeing, corporate countrymen were underground somewhere between the pyramid complex and the outer ring, so she couldn't just cut through the ground to get to them. Action vids not withstanding, physics didn't work like that. Instead, she followed one of the...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Since the ship hung nose-down to the ruins, getting to the console that controlled the ship's defense systems wasn't all that hard. Fia had never felt entirely comfortable in space, highly preferring her feet be on solid ground, but spidering her way over to the chair on the other side of the...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Fia almost argued, but didn't think it would be worthwhile to explain to a human. People carrying things they didn't know how to use led to more accidental deaths than murders, but this wasn't Fia-teaches-street-survival talk time. She glanced Shen over sidelong, then returned her attention to...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"That's not going to be fast enough if they can't scratch it with their small arms." Fia began to regret not doing her research on this, but there wasn't any research to look at. The Aos'si ruins she had known out of childhood were just that; inactive, inert, and free of anything dangerous...
