• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

The fact that the monster was an alien that disguised itself as a unicorn would've wrangled Wen's mind further, if he wasn't overwhelmed with adrenaline as he barely dodged the arc of plasma sent in his direction. He panted heavily, letting instincts take over. While he was a Daqinren with much...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Oh you're mother fucking kidding me." It didn't take long for Wen to search through his data banks and find several entries for mythological beasts that were equestrian with horns. "Is that a unicorn?!" He remarked to the group in hushed, frustrated tones as he also readied his weapon, and...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"I high doubt that." Wen commented back. He kept his guard up, periodically scanning the corpses to give his onboard computers as much forensic data as possible. A list of possible causes of death scrolled past his eyes, starting from the most common, down to the more esoteric possibilities...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"So a random merchant gets access to the Empire's finest weapons, but one of Mother Empress' direct children doesn't? Who fucked up in the bureaucracy?" Wen asked incredulously. He peered down the cavern, using his helmet's sensors to build a rough 3D map of the interior. "Splitting paths and...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Dumb cow, quit whining, and keep the comms clean: physical reality here is having a hard time keeping itself pulled together as is." Wen jeered with annoyance as he rappelled down off of the transport, landing with a slight thud onto the mushy jungle terrain with the weight of his weapons, his...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"I'm not all here yet." Wen replied in the virtual space, parts of his body blinking in and out of existence. One second he'd be missing an eye with a black void in its place, the next all of his guts would be replaced by a transparent hole. "My neurons are still trying to pull themselves back...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"'Out there', even with these coordinates you gave us, still has an error range of tens of kilometers." Wen replied with an annoyed tone. "You're this city's governor. With this place containing over 90% of the planetary Daqinren population, you have a lot of sway. How about this, princesses."...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"I'm done here." Wen pitied his fellow man, and stowed away his pistol. "Jun, you can have him all to yourself; maybe it'll help if he got himself dressed first, without a barrel pressing down on his pathetic organ." He then turned to the doctor and the Chongwu, his gaze cold under the light...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Well, this is fucking gross." Wen didn't bother hiding his disgust in his tone, agreeing with Jun for a rare moment. He then eyed his HUD, turning on his helmet's camera. "Of all the greatest of our culture and what our technology has to offer, you needed a fleshlight to satisfy yourself." The...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Fuck their mother, this is not happening right now." Wen growled angrily, refusing to be on the receiving end of an old, shameless human media trope. "Stupid cow, if you rubbed your two neurons together as much for reality as much as you do for your stupid little fantasies----" He muffled...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Fuck!" Wen anticipated a long fall and his soon demise. Instead, he landed chest first onto the emergency exit platform, built on the outside of the airlock. "Crazy tiger bitch," The ox-form muttered to himself and stood up, rubbing his arm. He first looked down from the handrails, seeing the...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"This is madness." Wen replied with a text into the VR space, his confusion and frustration evident. He equipped himself with a pistol in real space, standing next to the bay door, getting ready to jump out. "I expected more subtlety from you nobility kind when meeting others of high importance...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen mused. "I suppose we don't want too much attention just to get to the Governor's Palace. I see the noble title is a double edged blade now. You could mask your identity in virtual space, and wear plain clothes in real space. A Tiger-form and Dragon-form aren't uncommon, and the idea that two...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"Japanese Kanji? Here?" Wen shrugged. "I'm more surprised I haven't seen it in the station-cities, given that both you and Princess Koyama took up Japanese names. I thought it'd be more popular throughout the rest of the empire."

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen scoured the Daqinren Army's vehicle catalogue. Without access to the virtual space, he had to go the manual route and use a hand terminal, interacting with the rest of the team through typed text. He perused walkers, tanks, helicopters and rovers, scrolling past types that were too big, too...

    The Morning Star Directive

After the 22nd century, the huge amount of resources poured into terraforming Mars left a sour taste amongst the populace of the Sol system. The expenditure resulted in a barely habitable planet with little in the way of practical economic development, and the opportunity cost left other key...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen listened attentively at the Mother Empress' instructions and briefing of the situation, but Jun's sudden panic brought a sharp pain to his head. He grabbed his own head with the onset of a migraine, knitting his eyebrows. But Jun kept panicking and asking stupid questions. Suddenly he...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

"The fact that I wasn't the first to be infected with a vengeful Aos Si's consciousness does not ease me, Mother Empress." Wen scratched his horns in frustration. "Jun's right. What if I act up again and try to kill the two princesses?"

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen seethed, standing up from the wiring he was working on to face the projected image of the Mother Empress. "My actions spoke for themselves. As in, I conducted myself poorly. The Mother Empress may do with me how She sees fit. I accept all responsibility." He winced, a head-splitting pain...

Day in the Life: Rescue from the Depths

Wen remained silent. In fact, he wasn't on the bridge at all. He was alone in the engineering room, sulking and pitying himself as he conducted maintenance on the reactors. Not that he could tap into the conversation anyways; with a chunk of his brain missing. Besides, he has truly lost the...
