• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

    Chapter 4: Stalin Rain

Renee watched interrogation occur, writing down a few notes before affording Eberhard a short nod and following behind Caleb. She gave the man a quick look as they walked, but other than that, she remained in silence, formulating a small plan of attack in her head. This was difficult - she had...

    Chapter 4: Stalin Rain

"Yes, because you're doing a good job defending it," Renee snapped back , before noticing the concern in Toybob's expression as he talked about Froststorm. She frowned slightly, more internally, but the apprehension was apparent on her face nonetheless. "He needs self control. We've all lost...

    Chapter 4: Stalin Rain

The footsteps were soft, but not soft enough. Renee whipped around to see Toybob and steeled her face, straightening up into an obviously hostile pose as her eyes noticed the pistol on his belt. That would not have been too odd had the man been in armour, but he was in slacks. Almost...

    Chapter 4: Stalin Rain

The events of the past few hours ran on a repeating reel in Renee's head. Breach. Grenade. Droids. Burns. Breach. Froststorm. Breach. Grenade... it was a never-ending litany of mistake upon mistake upon mistake. She was a Commander', for fuck's sake - she wasn't supposed to make...

    Chapter 4: Stalin Rain

As Eberhard's demeanour changed, Renee followed his gaze towards Froststorm, and frowned behind her helmet. She herself reached for the pistol stowed on her side, wincing slightly as the injury on her arm sent a pang of pain through her nervous system. She would still be able to shoot if...

    Chapter 3: Fire and Ice

As everyone stormed the room as the EM attacks were detonated, Renee rushed in at the back. Although the HUD was showing no enemies, Renee still turned around when she reached the doorway and delivered a quick sweep of the hallway. Upon deciding that the corridor was sufficiently clear, she...

    Chapter 3: Fire and Ice

Renee didn't really know what was happening between the conversation about punk and Eberhard patching her up, but she eventually pulled herself up, nodding her head towards Eberhard before lifting her gun with a wince. She made a move to continue and follow the others, before turning back...

    Chapter 3: Fire and Ice

Renee hissed, swearing under her breath in French before giving Eberhard a pained nod. She watched Caleb leave, frowning at her inability to follow and complete the mission. She felt like a failure. She should have accounted for the robots, as a former Commander. Her fist clenched hard and her...

    Chapter 3: Fire and Ice

Renee felt a burning on her left forearm as the chemical corroded through the biosuit there, but she managed to kick back a stray robot and opened fire at the robot's torsos and heads. "Mari, can you-" the Frenchwoman winced audibly as she spoke over the comms channel, "Can you shut off the...

    Chapter 3: Fire and Ice

"We have a droid situation. Armed guards leaving the greenhouse. Copperhead over and out," Renee spoke over comms, before launching towards the droids and aiming for their torsos. She would also try to locate where on the droids this gas was coming from.

    Chapter 3: Fire and Ice

It was the silence brewing before the storm, before it erupted in a thunderous crash of bullets and grenades. Instantly, Renee's survival mode kicked in, and she careened back around the corner. "Lancers have been engaged, I repeat, Lancers have been engaged," Renee spoke clearly down her...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee listened to Mari's explanation, frowning although it made complete sense. She took another mouthful of soup, looking up briefly when Zana sat back down beside her, before her slate eyes flicked up towards Caleb with a smirk present on her pale face. "Oh no," she quipped back, tone...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee was aware of Zana and Caleb appearing, but was still staring towards the others until Caleb spoke. She fixed him with the glare. "Have you considered dropping out yet, yank?" she inquired, the corner of her lip curving upwards in a sarcastic smirk that demonstrated the comment was a joke...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Reading the room, and Zana's putting-him-in-his-place response, Renee nodded to herself and then raised her fingers to her head as if scratching her forehead. Except, as Froststorm would notice, her fingers would be formed into the Soyuz 'fuck you' symbol that they'd been taught only hours...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee aced the training, barging into the front line as per her training as a counter-terrorism officer. The hand gestures were familiar to her, and she couldn't help but crack a grin at the 'fuck you' signal. They were capable - not that Renee had doubted that in the slightest - but it had...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

"Watch your tongue, conasse," Renee took a step forwards as Shephard began to insult Caleb. "You're not special," she quickly followed up her previous statement, and although it sounded like a childish insult, there was a commanding tone to Renee's voice that seemed to change it's mood a little...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee was acutely aware of the animosity towards Zana, and gave the two Soyuz agents a rather unhappy stare at their behaviour. She knew she had to stay in line, and that Zana's form was fairly unusual within both the GDW and Soyuz, but she was still a teammate and it fell to her colleagues to...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee looked Toybob and Shephard up and down with her eyes, inclining her head backwards slightly at the latter's nod. It was interesting to see them both without their mask - neither one looked like how Renee had imagined, but she didn't let this surprise become apparent on her face, instead...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee nodded towards Eberhard in an almost-salute, feeling the invisible pressure of her knife at her side as she turned and strode, with an awfully large amount of confidence, towards the common room. Upon entering, she noticed a few Soyuz soldiers, and avoided them, acutely aware that she had...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Renee seethed at Billhook, squaring her shoulders and moving slightly forwards as if she was planning to take a step towards him - she decided not to engage as Bee's words echoed in her head, causing her to clench her fist even more tightly, with another leather squeak. At this rate, Renee...
