• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Caleb's brow was slick with sweat, and again, he missed the weight of his hat on his head. He reached up, and wiped the sweat from his brow. He thought they had all gotten the hand signs and the like worked out, and his team and TF52 had worked together pretty well considering the original...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Sometimes, Caleb's attitude tended to grate on others, but keeping his mouth shut was really something he had trouble doing, as a defense mechanism for tense situations. But he gritted his teeth, and sighed. "Yes sir, I can be professional. I just have trouble sometimes" He checked his holsters...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Caleb walked into the armory, pulling on his gun belt as he did so, checking the weapons as he stood in front of the locker. He didn't know Zana very well, but didn't much care for the way that the soldiers were talking to them. "It's clear to me that you know how to pull triggers of sorts...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Caleb nodded at Eberhard, and smiled. Making an obviously fake gagging noise at the "Sweet Rhodium" He liked the callsigns though. "Best prepare for a diplomatic approach then. If we can get them to talk, and to hand over the databanks, that would likely be better for everyone involved. As...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Caleb smiled at Eberhards comments, and crisply saluted him as he continued forward into the facility. "Yes sir!" Caleb knew there were going to be bugs in the walls, ceiling, floors, and decided that its better to rip a bandaid off a wound then to peel it slowly, he took his helmet off his...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Caleb took the shove and smiled. "I'm just not a fan of being blamed for the actions of others." He still thought Froststorm was an idiot, but would keep his words to himself. Caleb never liked the austere architecture of any of the Soyuz cities or compounds he had ever visited. It often felt...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

Caleb looked at each of them in turn as they were introduced. They were good Aliases, as far as he could tell, or at least, he liked the way they sounded. He was surprised at how little he liked them considering he ddn't know them. Usually dislike came later. His initial dislike was made more...

    Chapter 2: Practice Makes Perfect

The ride to the planet was uncomfortable, what with all the guns pointed at their ship as they got close. This was exacerbated by the fact that all they could do was essentially stare forward, and if they decied to fire on the ship they were in, well, they were sitting ducks. So Caleb looked...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb hated this kind of thing. Not the talking, he loved talking, and weaving stories. But all this pomp and circumstance never sat well with him. He shook his head in disbelief. "So you have no idea who the traitors may be, and our job is to find them, and apprehend or eliminate them? Seems...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb visibly calmed himself, letting out a sigh. He didn't realize that he had been holding his breath through the initial parts of the exchange. Lancer sounded right. Lancer Gellar didn't exactly roll off the tongue, but he could live with that. At least being in Magnetic Assembly space it was...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb smiled at Renee's near trip of words in regards to Ulrike, and their blush, but aside from the slight smile, he gave no response at it. He doubted though that Ulrike would afford him the same level of kinship, not any time in the near future. She had made it abundantly clear how she felt...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb watched the machines assembling the ships through the bulkheads. This was the sort of thing that he had never seen before, and so he was supremely interested. He stopped for a moment, catching up with the rest of the group after looking at one of the machines stall for a second, before...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb got off the shuttle, and gawked at the shipyard, and all the ships there. He had spent a long time on ships, and could pick out a few that he remembered seeing in the past, maybe even a few models he had served on. He refocused once they fully entered the shipyard, realizing that he was...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb grimaced at the reprimand, realizing that he needs to perhaps hold his tongue, and deal with others in private. This was a group meeting after all. He nodded to Renee, and turned back to the Grau leaders. Giving them his full attention. "I feel like we should get to the ship and get this...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb leaned back in his chair, admiring the greatcoat Janvier was wearing. He nodded in appreciation, and did not miss the pointed look and blunt response. "Impressive accolades. I understand if you might have reservations about mine, but know that I intend to prove to you, that my past is just...

    Chapter 1: Homecoming

Caleb took a seat at the table, his new uniform fitting uncomfortably around his left forearm, due to the tracker and paralytic injector on his arm. It bulged out his uniform and made it abundantly obvious that he had something under his sleeve there. The rest of the uniform fit comfortably, and...
