• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

    Chapter 4: First Trial

"Hey, KB. Can you do what you did to that hatch to this door?" Skolos examined the locked door that led to the bridge. "Then you can use it as a shield to block their bullets while Sovanna and I hit them with ours.

    Chapter 4: First Trial

Skolos thought of himself as relatively brave compared to most people, but the combination of KB's kind words and Alex's tone over the comms made Skolos's tail stand on end. He also felt a small bead of sweat roll down his forehead and he was glad he had a suit on. "Um, thanks for the confidence...

    Chapter 4: First Trial

"All right, team" Skolos turned to KB and Sovanna. "Good luck, have fun, and let's try not to die on our first mission together."

    Chapter 4: First Trial

Skolos's tail and ears pricked up as adrenaline coursed throughout his body in anticipation of the upcoming mission. "Heh, I think we can stand a little turbulence."

    Chapter 4: First Trial

Skolos put on his suit before doing some basic aerobic stretches to make sure he had enough movement in the suit. He then grabbed a gun from the stockpile and followed up on Sovanna's question. "No survivors right, mate? I mean... Captain." He was not used to taking orders.

    Chapter 4: First Trial

Skolos came out of his room already fully awake. He had been up for a few hours working out and mentally preparing himself for the task at hand. He was eager to finally get somewhere other than the Audentes. He headed over to the drop crate, taking a few deep breathes to focus.

    Chapter 3: Preparations

Skolos stepped back from the coilgun reaching an arm up to wipe his brow, before realizing he had a spacesuit on. He'd spent much of his life in space, so he wasn't too afraid of the endless nothingness. However, the thought of his suit failing him which would lead him to freeze to death was...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

The large Australian was glad he had been chosen to help put on the coilgun. Doing mechanical work was not his forte and he had little desire to work with the hulking robot. He decided he was in less danger with Sovanna then KB, and he would rather be bossed around by his actual boss then a bot...

    Chapter 3: Preparations

Skolos walked to Alex on the hull, who was waiting for him and Sovanna. Seeing as he had lived with pirates for a large part of his life, the no-grav travel plus the maglock boots were not new to him. He had, however, always hated walking with the boots. It took way to long to lift one foot up...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

Skolos's ears twitched when he heard Alex say 'no survivors'. He only killed if it was needed but wouldn't hesitate to get the job done. Hearing the Captain say that he would be on the boarding team made him happy. Not only was he itching to get back in the field, he was also comforted by the...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

"Uh oh, scary. Please don't make me do 20 push-ups, Officer." Skolos smiled at his own joke. "I think boarding would be the best tactic, though. That laser won't do them any good if we're inside their ship, but it will do us good if we can steal it."

    Chapter 2: Gathering

The Second Class Daqin looked around at the crew that was gathered. A robot, some officer, a slave, a hacker, and a normal human who thinks highly of himself. Skolos did the math and decided that he and the robot were the only ones who would be any good in the fight. "I agree, the robot and I...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

Skolos sighed to himself. "Bloody hell you two, we don't even know each others' names and we're already gunning for heads. You can have your shootout after I get my money. Before then we need to work together." He shook his head in anticipation of the disasters that were sure to come and sipped...

    Chapter 2: Gathering

Skolos examined the datapad and narrowed his eyes. "Adding on to General Stiff's questions, is this a boarding mission or a dogfight?" He cracked his neck and added, "I'm fine with both."

    Chapter 2: Gathering

Skolos looked around at those who he assumed would be on Alex's crew as well. A robot, a soldier, and someone who was afraid of the said robot. He sighed and called out to the bartender, "I'll have your most expensive vodka." He then turned to the nervous looking slave. "Barfights are completely...
