The surface is composed primarily of igneous rock, covered in sharp, abrasive dust with high silica content, and subject to intense radiation and frequent meteor impacts. The atmosphere is thin and unbreathable, with no natural sources of organic carbon. Human habitation is confined to extensive subterranean lava tubes, which support thousands of residents and serve as centers for mining, subsistence agriculture, and life-support industries. Governed by a directly democratic assembly of household representatives, Sheol's settlements are connected by a subterranean rail network, with Qiyub as the central hub.
