History
The Shen Zhou Industrial Group Pistol of Year 2305 is a weapon designed for mass distribution and production as part of a requirement of the HFR to update their official sidearm. A priority was put behind reducing manufacturing costs, and only a base level of functionality was needed as the weapon itself wasn't intended for frontline soldiers.
The pistol was widely deployed throughout the HFR, and a large stockpile of weapons and spare parts remain. The weapon hasn't been used much in direct combat, so there is little desire to replace it with something better or even to address the relatively high felt recoil of the weapon.
Layout
It lacks many of the internal safety features as products from other developers and has a very conventional design with thumb-safety, basic Red Dot Sight, and no threaded barrel or rails for attachments. The design does take one departure from conventional firearms in that it uses 5.56mm sized rounds with high density propellant in a slim case to achieve much higher velocity and similar hydrostatic shock to 9mm pistols while allowing the magazine to hold 33 rounds of the small sized ammunition.
Usage
The weapon is intended mainly for real-line duty where the threat of being armed, or being able to occasionally shoot at something, is the important part of having a weapon. It is operated like most modern pistols, with a semi-automatic fire mode and thumb safety.
