Muxie-ZS Main Battle Tank

The Muxie-ZS-## Main Battle Tank, literally “Mother Scorpion”, is the primary armored fighting vehicle of the Federation of Celestial Territories of the greater Heaven Forged Republic. It is a heavily armored, upscaled version of the Muxie MBT used elsewhere in the confederacy, its sole purpose being the defense of Wu Zetian and navigating its vast desert terrain. The differences are so stark that many simply call it by its variant designation, Zhongsha 重沙 (Heavy Desert).

History

Layout

The Muxie-ZS has a conventional tank layout, featuring a powerful [name TBD] fission power plant at the rear of the hull, crew space in the middle and front, and a remotely operated turret. Its main armament is a [name TBD] coilgun, its secondaries being a heavy machine gun and a point-defense laser turret. A drone platform is featured at the rear to host and communicate with scouting drones. The ZS variant features wider tracks to handle the desert terrain, and a more robust cooling system to handle the scorching heat of the planet. The armor consists of a ceramic composite, a dynamic-state gel layer, and a hardened steel alloy.

Like other Muxies in the HFR, the ZS variant has a crew of three, consisting of the captain, drone operator, and driver. The driver drives the vehicle and controls the main gun. The captain communicates with friendly combatants, makes callouts to the other two crew, and controls the scout drone. The drone operator controls the secondary weapons, manages electronic warfare and companion drone tanks. Both the drone operator and the captain have neural-link implants and are expected to be career soldiers.

At additional cost and mass, the Muxie-ZS can be refitted with stealth technology. Projector panels can be installed to dynamically camouflage the tank to the background. Liquid hydrogen-lithium tanks can be installed to absorb waste heat, dumped upon maximum capacity, making the vehicle near invisible to infrared sensors.
