History
Conceived in the 2260's as a part of the HFR's fleet modernization and reconstruction program after the Zhongzhi event and Operation Distant Flock crippled existing fleet power. Faced decades of delay, having to repurpose existing infrastructure in Shen Zhou and Li Ming, before the first Liuxingyu class was deployed in the 2280's along with its sister classes.

Armor
The Liuxingyu Class is poorly armored, with a basic steel-ceramic laminate for its outer hull, water, fuel, and coolant plumbing serving questionable, secondary protection purposes. A resolved barrage of spacecraft coilgun fire is sufficient to tear the missile corvette to shreds. Its bow mounted magazines of missiles are especially vulnerable to assault, which can lead to a catastrophic chain-reaction of detonations.
Weapons
The Liuxingyu Class carries an impressive arsenal of missiles for its size and maneuverability, its standard arsenal consisting of four defensive missiles, two anti-capital missiles, and its bow-mounted magazines holding kinetic missiles that can be used to either overwhelm an enemy ship's defenses, or serve as the missile corvette's own ad-hoc defense or itself or the battlegroup. Thanks to its shipboard missile guidance suite, the Liuxingyu class can also adapt its arsenal relatively easily for specialized operations, able to coordinate the launch of nuclear warheads, asteroid busters, and drones.

Tactical Doctrine
The Liuxingyu Class, like its sister class, the Huoxuanfeng Class, is a backline glass cannon. Its primary task in an engagement is to dispense its massive arsenal of missiles and coordinate them to their destinations. Once expended, the missile corvette is expected to retreat back to a logistical support group for rearmament.
